Hurr Durr subby

Sorry, I don't get the Ford hate. The vehicles they have been putting out have been inventive, well received, and well designed.

Loyalty to a car manufacturer is no easier to explain than one's preference in invisible sky-daddies (or mommies for that matter). My last Ford had 84K on it when I sold it. Zero down days.

Don't know if subby has driven a Ford lately... but those things can't be killed. Of sure, anything they made before 1990 might have worked with the joke, but not since then. I had my 1995 Thunderbird roll on to 160k miles... running something called Nitrous Oxide through the mostly stock motor. My friend, who brought it after me, had to finally get rid of it after the rear IRS mount sheared from the body.

Now my BMW w/ 21,000 on the ODO... go ahead and crack all the jokes about that damn thing. Already put $1500 into repairs after owning the thing less than a year. Just lay off the Fords.

As long as Mullaly stays, Ford should be OK. That dude is pretty smart as far as executives go.

Granted, mine is an 8-year old economy model, but my 2004 Focus has only 61k miles and is on its FOURTH alternator. Plugs and wires are brand new, but still only getting 20mpg city. I can't stand the thing.

My Ranger is 7 years old and just passed the 41k mile mark. The only major repairs I've had are to the brake system (parked next to the ocean without driving it for two months caused some corrosion) and the time I had to get new tires (spun out on the highway and ended up ass backwards in a ditch). She's handled herself very well over the years.

Um, my '05 Focus has 61k miles and still is going strong

Might want to stick to the Apple trolling, derpmitter. This one ain't getting the pageviews.

The headline doesn't even make sense. Where does the 25,000 come from? Kuzzak has been with Ford since 1978. I guess "Just like their cars, Ford exec to quit after 34 years" doesn't have the same troll potential, though.

Got a 1990 mustang here with more than 216,000 miles on it. When the time comes to replace the beast, I'll look at Fords first.

You need to clean and tighten the grounds in your engine bay. Bad grounding can damage the voltage regulator in the alternator and also mess with your engine's sensors, leading to poor fuel economy.

My '69 F-250 just had its shift collar shear apart. So I'm getting a kick, or something?

I had a Probe and a Thunderbird. The Probe went to nearly 300k miles before I sold it because the head finally cracked after something punched a hole in the water pump and it overheated in heavy traffic in the middle of summer.

Had a Thunderbird that went to 84,000 miles before I sold it. Only problem it ever had was that the power seat motor died.

In fact between my wife and I, we've had Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Honda, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi and the only one that ever gave us any major problems was the Chrysler. And it gave us nothing but problems. Major and expensive problems. The Chevy was the next worst car, but it only had one big problem, and it was fixed under warranty. The Pontiac died "early" with only 120k miles, but that's because my brother didn't take care of the transmission and ruined it.

Everything else made it to at least 140k miles before being sold. The one Ford made it to 289k miles, although it was a Probe so it was mostly a Mazda.

The whole American cars suck meme is really only funny to people who stopped paying attention to cars back in the 90s (with the possible exception of Chrysler). To the rest of us, it's just a sad attempt at a cheap green with a trite, boring, and inaccurate headline.

0ur 2001 focus has 220k on and stil hums along.
Our 2005 focus has 64k on it with no worries.
Our 1993 GM suburban has 189k on and is a tank.

Our 30 year old Ford tractor works like a charm .

So it lasted 40 years? Damn. I hope my Ranger lasts as long.

The Ford Fusion is badass, and so is the Taurus. The Fiesta is a fun car too. Subby is livin in the past.

My 2000 F350 turbo diesel Just passed 300k miles and it still runs perfectly. Sure, I've had a few things go out over the years, glow plug relay, fly by wire pedal, a door lock, a few sensors and the stupid auto locking hubs, (replaced with warn). All very minimal and easy to replace. My brother just spent $3000 putting a new transmission in his 06 Ram. If I ever decide to get a new truck, I'm getting another Ford.
