You can't win, Mitt. But there are alternatives to campaigning.

Obama is 'self-sufficient'? Bull. He was a community organizer for chrissakes. He and Romney are "people people" who used their charisma to move up the ladder.

Obama definitely has charisma, which I'm sure has been an asset in his climb to the top. But Mitt? He's rich and determined. But he's about as charismatic as a baloney sandwich.

Yeah, but, um, Romney had the slight advantage of being born quite a few rungs up the ladder from Obama.

His schtick goes over a lot better in the corporate boardroom, much like I imagine Herman Cain's pitches as a CEO years ago. The problem with these guys is that, while brilliant when it comes to business, it just doesn't translate well into "Hussein Usama done taked away mah guns"-ese. Mitt especially has to force it, particularly since the only part of the Republican platform he's actually comfortable with are the pro-business policies.

Barry's Muslim stepfather Lolo Soetoro was a lobbyist for an oil company. Obama himself made it into Harvard law school on a legacy admission. Not to mention in the age of affirmative action he did have several advantages when it came to getting into his undergraduate studies.

Yes, being the stepchild of an Indonesian lobbyist does give similar advantages to being the son of an extremely wealthy American politician. So similar as to be almost indistinguishable in fact.

George Wilcken Romney (July 8, 1907 - July 26, 1995) was an American businessman and Republican Party politician. He was chairman and CEO of American Motors Corporation from 1954 to 1962, the 43rd Governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969, and the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1969 to 1973. He is the father of former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney and the husband of former Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Lenore Romney.

In her junior year, Lenore LaFount and senior George W. Romney became high school sweethearts;[4][5] she was from a more well-assimilated Mormon family.[6][7]

After Calvin Coolidge appointed her father to serve on the Federal Radio Commission, LaFount moved to Washington with her family, followed by Romney.[8] LaFount, who was an aspiring actress, had the opportunity to sign a $50,000, three-year contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, but Romney convinced her to return to Washington[9] where he worked for Alcoa and the Aluminum Wares Association as a lobbyist.[10]

After winning a tight nominating contest against Robert Huber, a conservative state senator from Oakland County, Lenore Romney lost the general election to popular Incumbent Democrat Senator Philip A. Hart, who won re-election handily with 67% of the vote.[16]

So a lobbyist dad AND a rich mom with a little bit of experience in politics.

/And seriously, if your gonna try to play "Being black makes it SO much easier than being white, wealthy, and politically connected!" I'm gonna play my tiny violin for you.
//Can we go back to making Star Wars jokes?
///You campaigned on THAT platform? You're braver than I thought!

Philip Francis Queeg: Yes, being the stepchild of an Indonesian lobbyist does give similar advantages to being the son of an extremely wealthy American politician. So similar as to be almost indistinguishable in fact.

But what did that have to do with the ritzy job Romney landed after he graduated with the dual MBA/JD from Harvard? Both of these guys got their opportunity thanks to their family connections, but it was hard work and a keen sense of organizational politics that got them ahead in the world.
