The headline is funny because submitter took the actual headline of the article and inserted the word "fabulous," which is something gay people say.

Johnnyknox: Remember 2008 when people were willing to give Obama money?

I doubt Obama will be hurting for donations. It's going to be either Obama or one of the four jokers in the GOP race, which is a future too horrid to contemplate.

Plus, it has been apparent since the SOTU that Obama's campaign will largely be an appeal to voters to throw out the bums in Congress and re-elect him and a more amenable group of legislators. Considering that recent polling shows approval of Congress is only 10-13%, this has real potential.

and reality:

Obama fundraising powered by small donors, new study shows (new window)

President Obama is outpacing his record set four years ago for pulling in small donations, an analysis released Wednesday confirms.

Nearly half of the donors to Obama's reelection campaign in 2011 gave $200 or less, more than double the proportion seen in 2007, according to the analysis from the Campaign Finance Institute, which tracks money in politics.

He is getting more money and from more donors.

Please. Every election the Log Cabin Republicans raise a similar amount, give the check to the GOP, a few days pass and then the GOP makes a big show of giving back (presumably with a bunch of their phone numbers written on the back of the check).

It's a combination money laundering scam and Craigs List hook up for the both parties involved.

Well there's no reason not to be supportive of this President if you're gay. With the republicans increasingly seeming to elect either a religious nut bar or a conservative ideologue, and with the third choice not exactly able to be very friendly, the President is the best choice. Even if you ignore how good he's done; Federal benefits for partners, DOMA not being enforced, DADT ended, and on top of all that during his administration several big stages have, by legislative act, allowed gay marriage. He's been the most gay-friendly president ever. And - most shockingly - he actually is not afraid of us.

Cuz if there's anything an incumbent politician needs to stack the deck even more in his favor, it's money from working people. The guy's got a BILLION dollars. Save your money. Someone in your family needs it more than any random politician who is by his very nature a jerk-off with mental problems that require him or her to obtain a position of authoritay.

With one pen stroke and not much fan fair, President Obama made it so same sex couples have visitation rights in any hospital that receives medicare funding (as in, all of them).
This was a giant gift to the gay community that almost never gets mentioned.
