With the exception of Darius Rucker (for shame, Mr. President. There is never a good time to play Darius Rucker), that's a pretty solid selection of tuneage

Missing some important ones:
Let Me Clear My Throat - DJ Kool
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - The Band
Let's Go - The Ramones
People are People - Depeche Mode
And the most essential album of all: Fear Of A Black Planet (Public Enemy).

Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall
Just be thankful for what you've got
Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back

I heard that after Newt got the cease-and-desist on Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger', he switched to using Martina McBrides 'Independence Day'. I guess he's never seen the video, or listened to anything other than the chorus.

Anyone else find this a little hard to believe?
Really? He slaps his Beats (R) by Dre on his head while he's chillin' out on Air Force One and sings along to Dierks Bentley? And then, right after that, he's listening to Al Green?
Color me skeptical. Sounds like a PR move to make him the "Just Like Me" (tm) presidential candidate.

20 bucks says Obama picked less than 5 of those if any and an intern spent a week researching to get the proper "We're all in this together, roll up your sleeves, bring me back again, we're different but we can still relate, inspirational" mix and ensuring that there was not one possible controversial line for Fox News to nitpick. Hooray America.

Oh my, I hadn't even thought about that. You just know that there's some republican toady RIGHT NOW quickly assembling/looking for something like this to prove that they are just as in-tune with internet hip crowd, and it will wind up being something like "here's a geocities where you can download all of the quicktimes that Newt listens to" or something just as ridiculous.
And then they'll blame the librul media when the internet laughs at them.

I liked that first Darius Rucker album -- Learn to Live. It was nostalgia (the voice brought me back to 7th/8th grade), and it was so utterly earnest. He was just singin his heart out, singing stupid simple songs about his life, and thrilled as hell that people were willing to listen. If more artists took his spirit with their music, I don't think we'd go far wrong.
And no, I'm not a country music fan in general. Cept for Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson -- the old school crew.
