Kid Rock is a really nice dude. I met him once at DFW airport a couple years ago. He's also quite intelligent, despite the role he plays on stage.

my wife says Kid Rock "makes a tasty sandwich...a tasty sandwich" and heaven help that boy if she ever gets her hands on him. she will wear his love stick down an inch before he escapes, i have no doubt.

musicians that actually make music are okay with me. it's the ones that are interchangeable arseholes that piss me off. they are similar to all the stand-up comedians / actors that now deliver social commentary on the state of world events. they will do whatever for the paycheck. CD selling pretty faces that can't read music or play an instrument are the worst offenders.

2012-02-10 09:11:34 AM
Kid Rock is a nice guy and way more laid back in person than his on-stage persona would leave you to believe. He's been a pretty good ambassador for both Detroit and the State of Michigan.

He's the coolest "star" there is. Who else walks into local bars here in Clarkston, sits next to you at a bar (not knowing you), buys you a beer, and then invites you to his house for a bonfire.

The guy is pure class.

CSB Time:

When I was working for the City of Indianapolis, Kid Rock came in to a couple of our fire stations and gave tickets to the firefighters for his concert, and he left merchandise and CDs for those that had to work that day and couldn't be there.

I thought that was a classy move.

Kid Rock is out there doing something to help the children of Detroit, while this woman is obviously eating them.

I like the part where he says his company has never once claimed their clothing was actually made in Detroit, and that it's been very forward with this information on his website.

He then shows the image which saying NOTHING about the clothing being made outside of Detroit, but does include the Phrase "Made in Detroit" about 5 different times in contexts that make it seem like the clothing is actually made in Detroit.

We know he didn't read it, but there wasn't anyone else to double-check the 3 paragraphs of text in that image to see if it was relevant?

I was waiting for a bus in downtown Detroit on a particularly rainy day. In front of me, a clogged drain had caused a pond-sized puddle to form. This Camero takes the corner up the block at a ridiculous speed, skidding on the wet road. The driver then gunned it and aimed directly for the puddle. Before I had a chance to move, he splashed through the water, throwing this huge, dirty wave of rat droppings, used syringes, and shell casings over me. I was soaked and had a hypodermic needle sticking out of my carotid artery. The driver kept going, but I threw my hands up like "WHAT THE fark?!"

That's when the brake lights exploded red, the car screeched to a halt, and then roared back in reverse. I was scared shiatless. The door opens and Kid Rock steps out. He popped the trunk, got a tire iron, and proceeded to beat me into a coma. When I woke up two months later, I got the terrible news that Kid Rock had sexually assaulted me and I had contracted Hepatitis C. On top of that, the beating left me paralyzed from the waist down. I could no longer have an orgasm. I was destroyed as not only a man, but a human being.

About a week after I left the hospital, I get a plain brown paper package in the mail. No return address. I opened it to find Kid Rock's latest CD, personally autographed to me. I don't really care for that kind of music, but it was a nice gesture. He even included a 9 by 10 inch glossy photograph. So, Kid may be a bit impulsive at times, but he really is a nice guy.

Got to go change my colostomy bag again. I had hot wings last night and they are killing me.

Apeleutheros: Kid Rock is a really nice dude. I met him once at DFW airport a couple years ago. He's also quite intelligent, despite the role he plays on stage.

This. The guy genuinely cares about Detroit and has donated a lot of money all over Michigan, with a focus on SE Michigan. Say what you will about his music, his stage persona, or the like but he's far from the asshole celeb category.

My favorite move by him though was the water park at Clintonwood. Set it up right next to the existing roller hockey rink. So now if I fire a shot off the left shoulder of the one goalie I can try to pick the kid off the water slide.

I would marry the man in a heartbeat. You can say he doesn't have "class" all you want but the fact is he is probably one of the classiest men around in the true sense of the word. A heart of gold, a voice with soul, pretty good to look at, and he has an attitude that won't allow him to take crap from anyone but does allow him to stand up for that in which he believes. How many of you can say the same about yourselves?

I was all ready to blast Kid Rock because, hell, he's Kid Rock, but then I read the article that got him so pissed off and he kind of has a point.

The article in question sort of glosses over the complexity of purchasing and suppliers and tries awfully hard to make a mountain out of a molehill over a company that sounds like it really is trying to do the whole Made in America thing even though it's difficult.

And now I'm even more pissed off at Susan Tompor for making me side with Kid Rock on something...

As you drop in your cassette of Dan Savage singing his favorite songs from "Wicked," I'll bet.

If Roseanne Barr responded to a critic the same way, you'd be the first one to have your lips wrapped around her c0ck.

Yeeeah, between his derpy derp Tea-Party politics and his willingness to open a retort with profanity and name-calling, I just can't associate terms like "intelligent" and "nice" or "classy" with this raging jackass. I hate to be the one to break this to you and everyone else in here who is white-knighting this white-trash over a single, brief off-stage encounter with him, but you guys are the ones who got that act.

Oh and as long as we're relating stories about seeing KR, I saw him at Denver Internation Airport once about five years ago, and the dude was being a complete douche to everyone around him. I guess he forgot to put the "nice guy" disguise back on after his previous show or something.

That was excellent. I'm a big fan of him personally and of his music. I love how his music has evolved as he has aged.

That made me laugh too. It's like running a restaurant named "Prime Beef" and then selling horsemeat burgers and steaks....... "Beef is just the name and has nothing to do with what we sell".

It lets people who are poorer, less successful, and less talented than he is condescend towards him by using racial slurs and, in doing so, feel better about themselves.

It has to be asked: If the shirts are being sold for twenty-eight dollars, WHY AREN'T THEY MAKING THEM IN DETROIT? Or ANYWHERE in the United States?

Is it absolutely essential to give corporations the largest profit margin possible?

Look out, youv'e angered the rough-and-tumble lawless redneck behind "Only God Knows Why" and that song with Sheryl Crow. Sorry, Kid, you can either be the rawkin' bad-ass or the soccer-mom-anthem pussy. You made your bed(probably not in Detroit, either, I imagine), so you can lie in it, Lil' Jackson Browne.
