I don't think it's a problem for sideline reporters to be attractive-being physically attractive doesn't inherently mean you can't be intelligent, and television reporting of all kinds is one of the few professions where men have to meet at least some of the same physical beauty standards as women.

Holy crap you psycho that wasn't what Jacobs was saying in the slightest.

Well, she was right, but it was still a douchebag comment. So I guess you can still call her a douchebag, just don't draw attention to her attractiveness while doing so.

People, farkers especially, seem to think that just because someone utters a true statement that they are automatically above reproach for it. That's not how society works. Either everyone here is Rain Man autistic or, I suspect, socially inept on levels psychologists will be writing about for years.

I'm not mad at her. I'm mad at her husband for losing his shiat, at Belichick for being an egomaniacal douche who won't admit when he's over his head, and at the team for not drafting any good players on defense in years.

If anything, I'm mad that people are still giving a story about a player's wife any airtime whatsoever.

The thing that gets me is that while those passes were catchable they weren't perfect. Well, the one Hernandez dropped was right there, but the pass to Welker was over his outside shoulder though his route was inside and the pass to Branch was behind him IIRC.

It was an impolitic comment. She didn't say it wasn't all his fault, she implied that it wasn't his fault at all and that all the blame laid with the other members of the team. There is already a preconception that Brady is babied both by the league and the media (I won't weigh in either way) and to have someone then immediately "make excuses" just adds on to that. It's the kind of thing which can cause problems in the locker room because you don't call out your teammates like that. When you are that famous everywhere except inside your own house or car is "public". She's a supermodel and has been famous for years. She should know by this point that anything she says or does in that sort of forum will be reported on. It's a shiatty situation, but it's one of the costs of that kind of fame.

not really. she's a public figure, more public than brady even, talking about things she doesn't have a clue about. she makes more money than anyone in football, by a good margin. she's a big girl, and she started pontificating on Tom's perfection and his receivers shortcomings in that game in a public forum.

jacobs can slap her down anyway he feels fit when she either through ignorance or either a desire to bullshiat people she pretends it wasn't tom brady but instead his receivers that were responsible for that loss. there is no out of line.

She personally gets massive media attention and this was the Super Bowl. For her not to be aware that there is no such thing as a private comment at an event like this, particularly post-game when every single reporter within 75 miles is trying to get a reaction statement is impossible. She knows damn well about the media and she should have known better. This is not a person unused to media attention, this is someone who LIVES in media attention. You simply cannot play the idea that she is naive about the media.

done in one.

Pats fans should be mad at Bill for not drafting a deep threat who could keep the defenses honest.
Torrey Smith was sitting there waiting for them in round two, taken with the 58th pick when they could have had him with the 56th. Instead they got a running back who had very little playing time (and they already had Green-Ellis and Woodhead on the roster anyway).

2012-02-09 08:26:06 PM
Why would a Patriot's fan be mad at her? I heard half a dozen Patriot fans say basically the exact same thing at the end of the night. Brady was the only one firing for them in the last eight minutes or so.

error 303: Why would a Patriot's fan be mad at her?

Never underestimate the provincial nature of Boston. If Brady had married a nice girl from Quincy and lived somewhere w/in the area, the two of them could be saying any damn thing after the game and it would accepted with open arms.

I still love the place, but goddamn there are a bunch of neanderthal lifers who live there and apparently have nothing better to do than speak fluent retard on WEEI and even question how truly Bostonian even Tom Brady is, since he's a California kid who lives in NYC and married a supermodel.

I think this idea that has popped up since the pats lost is nonesense. their receivers get more wide open than any other group I regularly watched all year. gronk and welker had more TDs, more yards, more catches of 20 yards or more, and more total yards than any other combo in the NFL last year. Brady had 5,200 yards and 40 TDs. seriously those guys were always open all year.

if tom makes a good pass to welker he maybe scores a TD, and almost certainly the game is over and we are talking about him as the best QB of his generation and maybe the best all time. he also missed on an important pass to branch. he had the interception to gronk. and had the bonehead safety. bad QB play lost the game, not a lack of deep threat. the receivers got open.

if you were going to crown him the best ever if he won, you need to admit he sucked when they lose because of him.

She was right, but none of the WRs can pass and catch the ball either. I mean that in the sense that its not like Brady had a perfect night either, and screwed up a points as well.

It sounds like the author only knows about Erin Andrews and not about the Robin Roberts and Shelley Smiths that are/were reporting for years.

oh yeah, and Brady was second in Yards per Attempt last year with 8.57 per, but those receivers can't get deeep!

Igor Jakovsky: Jacobs must have caught some heat internally because he already apologied, sort of:
Link (new window)

During Tuesday's MetLife Stadium rally celebrating the Giants' Super Bowl win, Jacobs told reporters, "She just needs to continue to be cute and shut up."
But speaking on ESPN's "The Doug Gottlieb Show" a day later, Jacobs said he should have been more respectful.
"Given the fact that it's a colleague of mine's wife, I do apologize for saying that, because I shouldn't have said that," Jacobs said. "It's his wife and I should respect that just as much as anyone else. After all, once a man establishes ownership of a woman, it's not anyone's place to disrespect his property. And so I apologize to Tom from the bottom of my heart for insulting him through his biatch."

2012-02-09 09:14:56 PM
Perhaps Giselle should have had her friends pray for the rest of the Patriots instead of just Tom and they might have been able to catch some passes.

2012-02-09 09:15:29 PM
Psst...it's not Pats fans that have a problem with Gisele. Even the ones that claim that she's somehow a problem in general are fans of other teams just stirring shiat up. Oh, and women who are all hurt that Brady's had children with two different women.

You're half right. Gronk is the hardest guy in the NFL to cover when he's on, and he was very clearly hampered by that ankle. That's not anybody's fault in particular, it's just bad luck. The one longish catch he did have looked all turned around and hardly had his feet under him. Great athletes almost never look that awkward if they're not compensating for an injury. They could have won anyway if Brady plays better, or maybe if Welker doesn't drop that one big that hit him right in the hands, but losing your #1 receiving option hurts.

She was right in the sense that yes, it is impossible to both throw and catch the ball and still win. She was so assbackwards by inferring that it was Welker or any of the receivers fault they lost. Brady started the game off with a 50 yard bomb to noone in his own endzone for a safety, followed by a horribly underthrown interception, and for the encore a 4 yard short and behind ball to Welker that he some how will get blamed for. Being Tom Brady must be awesome, nothing is EVER your fault!

Hmm, I don't remember Flacco's wife taking shots at Lee Evans for dropping the ball in the Championship game. Maybe she should have said nothing instead of taking a dump on Wes Welker who is Brady's most reliable target and saved his butt more than a few times.

But for non-sports fans, I guess it's okay for your wife to talk down about your team mates because they deserve it. Fark anything they've done for you in the past.

2012-02-09 10:16:44 PM
I haven't watched a down or any highlights since the last pass hit the ground, but Brady was bad down the stretch - something like 7 of 17. He fired the Hernandez "drop" way too hard, and Branch's first drop was tipped. He's holding on too tight. He's lost his edge.

Anytwats, If I were to rank the Pats poor play in order of, I'd go with:
Brady Safety
too many men (negated fumble & great field position)
Brady INT
Ninkovich offsides
Logan Mankins entirely bad day
Jerod Mayo's perfectly designed but missed pick 6
Brady's general performance in the end 3rd/all 4th - essentially everything outside his 16 completions in a row; how great was his great and how bad was his bad?
Play call - Benjarvis Green Ellis' goal line run to the right run that did not block JPP
Welker's drop

So I think Welker's drop was the 8th or 9th worst thing the Pats dealt with. If you can include Gronk's injury, Welker's drop is #10

Comparatively, the Pats secondary was pretty bad, but that was to be expected so I give them a pass. That list consists of things that not only went wrong, but were also pretty unusual for that team.
