When articles invoking the Holocaust and urging creative destruction in Iran appear on the same day in the WaPo, WSJ, Newsweek and Bloomberg News, a skeptical observer might be forgiven for suspecting a well-coordinated propaganda campaign

Yes, and Dick Cheney predicted that U.S. forces invading Iraq would be greeted with candy and flowers. "Most analysts [in Jerusalem] and abroad," the Times noted cautiously, "take a different view." Indeed, historical examples of civilian populations cheering on aerial bombardments are rare, if not nonexistent. Despite his and Cheney's obvious affinities, one would expect Netanyahu to be made of saner stuff.
We were cheered as liberators. It took about a month before the insurgency started.
The worse thing in Iraq we had to deal with initially were just looters.

BB is an ass and a neo-con who thinks he's American (he studied at MIT and Harvard). When he chose to "restart" settlement construction just days before Obama's middle east envoy was going to come it was clear he was going to try to undermine Obama. I have to imagine that the ties setup between AIPAC, the GOP and people like Adelson guided this. Hell BB lost the last Israeli election but the winner, Livini, was unable to build a coalition.
I don't think we need to go to war with Iran, the government sucks but the people are better educated and at least the under 30 urban crowd liberal then their Arab neighbors. Given time the government will fall, question is how do we stop a country with nukes from destabilizing? I think like N.Korea they want the bomb not to attack another country but to hold the world hostage, we go tit's up and you have to deal with rouge nukes.
Instead of war, we should just drop sanctions and use our best weapons Coca-cola, Starbucks, Nike, etc... It's pretty much what Nixon did with China and it works.

Iraqi's.
I was not there at the liberation. I first came to Iraq in August 2003. Half way through my section LT was replaced by someone who had been in country since the beginning.
He had a shiatload of pictures of it all. He was in Baghdad the day it fell (and I am not talking about the statute incident)

All you have to do to determine who benefits from a war with Iran to see who is behind this warmongering. The likely candidates are the staunchly pro-Israel politicians and those with significant pro-military investments, plus the far-right Israeli politicians. Throw in the End Timers and Dominionists, and you've got enough of a base to support these ads, news stories and rumors.
/war with Iran would be insane

Vote Republican! Mitt Romney has said he'll go to war with Iran! Yayyyy!!!
Or vote for Ron Paul and have your vagina turned into state property! Yayyy!!!
Or vote for the guy who has ended one war and will have ended the other one by 2014. Yayy!!!
Seriously, the Republican party will bust our budget and our military via a war with Iran if we elect a Republican president.
And remember that Iran is 4 times the size of Iraq and we put 1.5 million military personnel into Iraq.
That's means if we invade and occupy Iran, we will re-institute the draft. And in the end it will ruin our military.
The sounds you hear aren't drum beats for war with Iran. They are cash registers ringing.

If you can't see that Iran is the next Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya, you should step back into reality. The people pulling the strings of Obama and the administration have declared Iran to be more than a "tiny" country.
After Obama loses, the new administration will be blamed for the war there. So the democrats will be free to scream bloody murder as the will not have to clean up the mess they made.

Three words: History. Repeating. Itself.
It's the Mukden Incident (GIFY) all over again. Israel (acting like the Kwangtung Army) wants to start something with Iran with the implicit knowledge that the Washington will have little or no choice but to go along with it.
The only thing that could stop any involvement by Washington would be the American people (tired of all the fighting in Iraq/Afghanistan) saying "FARK NO! WE WON'T GO!" and making that implicitly clear to politicians that would support Israel.
AIPAC's only interested in Israel's well-being, the world be damned.

The same Iran that both the US Military and the CIA do not believe has even *begun* a nuclear weapon program?
The same Iran that adventurists have been claiming was 2-3 years away from a bomb since (at least) the early 80s?
For fark's sake why does anyone listen to these chickenhawks and warmongers?
They used to actually have to stage bullshiat encounters to claim casus belli.
Now they just have to repeat lies enough times?
And not even from trustworthy sources, but from mouthpieces with a history of pushing politically-motivated lies on cue?

Very much this.
Also, how does it not serve US interests (as well as Israeli, Arab, and Persian interests) to continue to extend the olive branch to the Persian people and offer nothing but sanctions to the Iranian government due to their behavior?
I thought that the green revolution has shown that the people are tiring of Ahmadinnerjacket and Khomeni's nonsense. We just need to wait for the tipping point and things will fall into place.
Attacking Iran with conventional forces will do nothing but worsen the situation.
