But... this isn't Obama's fault, is it? I mean he's only responsible for good things, right?.

Rest assured that Republicans will bend over backwards in trying to curtail these rising
profits
prices.

Know how I know you didn't read the article? FTA:
Rising prices are an annual spring ritual, largely because of seasonal demand.

Know how I know you didn't read the rest of the article? FTA:
This year's earlier-than-usual run-up is more about anticipation than current supply and demand. Last week, the Energy Department reported anemic U.S. consumption - the lowest levels since September 2001.

Excellent. Another fact I can use to convince my wife that I really need a motorcycle.

Yes, but it used to be because supply was short due to all the driving vacations and plant maintenance. Now it's because "usage isn't as high as expected" and shareholders are expecting a certain level of profit.

Use more gas? Prices go up.
Use less gas? Prices go up.
This makes prefect sense. Right?

Its part of the reason why I told my job to either transfer me to a closer office to home or pay me more. They told me they will look into it. So I have started to look for a job closer to home.

Don't gas prices typically spike, then fall waaaay down during an election year as we get closer to November?

FTA:
"The increase in gas prices last year sucked $100 billion out of the economy," she says. "We aren't going to get a break because there is no long-term grand strategy to keep prices down."
I think this one of the major reasons why the economy isn't bouncing back like it used to after past recessions. All that money is going to a few companies rather than spreading throughout society. And what are those companies doing? Well, besides making record profits? Are they putting it back into the economy, spreading it out evenly? No.
You want recovery? Gas prices must go down. Or else nothing will change.

Gasoline prices expected to spike 60 cents a gallon in next few months on news that it is February and gasoline prices always rise from January through May.

Of course the price of gas will go up. It's an election year with a Democratic incumbent. The Republican corpos will be pulling out all the stops.

Well duh...the second 'the economy' shows anything close to a positive sign, they'll start cranking it back up again. 'The economy' wouldn't support $5-6 gas for th epast year or two, it 'might' now, so they'll give it a shot.
If not, they'll "drop" it to $4.50 and everyone will be relieved, forgetting it's a buck higher per gallon that it currently is.

Heck it went up 10 cents from this morning to noon. $3.65 a gallon now. Demand down over 6 percent compared to last year at this time. Supply up/demand down. Fark the speculators.

See people! If only we built that pipeline through that large reserve of clean underground water, this wouldnt be happening. Sure it wouldnt have been built or pumping oil for at least 2 years. That or the fact we are already exporting the gas made from that oil brought down in another pipe to China and South America. Instead of supplying that to the US to lower prices.. that's not the point here. We need lie about our reasons for doing something, destroy as much as possible to save some money and then blame some black guy that wont do what we want.

Unfortunately, as a life long Republican I will be voting for Obama again. I vote for Country over party, which seems to be lost on almost all common joe the plumbers...

The fact that prices continue to rise even though demand continues to fall is just proof that the system is rigged.

We use so little gasoline we've been
exporting
it.

Speculation on Iran blocking the flow of oil and Iran oil embargo drives oil prices up. Refineries input costs (oil) go up however, demand for refined product (gasoline/diesel) is down. Negative margin for refinery operations cause some to close up for good. Speculators see the closure of refineries as a shortage of gasoline/diesel on the horizion and drive that up....
Demand is down and higher prices will cause demand to drop even further. By that time the speculators will have made their money.
