The author sounds bitter.

That was a very poorly written article. I think the author was trying to say, "We love Chicago, warts and all", but was very hodgepodge in his presentation.

Chicago is an amazing city. I'm going back for my birthday next weekend and I absolutely can't wait, even though I'm expecting weather my body can't handle anymore after 3 winters in California. Sure the winters will make you hate the world, the sports teams can make you tear your hair out year after year after year, the CTA isn't exactly the most reliable, we have social problems galore, and traffic is nigh unbearable, but there's something about the city that makes it easy to overlook all that. It pains me to be gone from it for so long, and every trip back is like a holiday.











Although, yes, there are a lot of fat people. I didn't really notice it until my first trip back after moving here.
