I'm glad I finally have gotten around to playing some Final Fantasy games so I can understand half of these references.

Asphyxious and Denegra.

trust me. it's epic. it's also REALLY f*cking twisted....but its love.

A question to the submitter: This list includes Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man, Mario & Peach, and Link & Zelda. How is that something for people under 35?

2012-02-09 05:08:33 AM
Mario/peach and link/zelda have been in games the last couple of years so the young'ins would have picked up on them even if they don't understand where they came from. got me on the mr/ms. pacman though.

This is the fluffing fluffiest fluff piece I have ever fluffing seen in my entire fluffing lifetime.

I met my wife during a D&D (Dragonlance) game, and proposed (in and out of character) during a Shadowrun game.

Does that count?

Um I don't see an article there just the tagline and comments, anyone else?

2012-02-09 05:17:19 AM
Let me guess, article writer: you played videogames all week instead of working, then realized you had a deadline in ten minutes, so you googled "romance in games", grabbed a half dozen screenshots and wrote a sentence or two for each?

Locke & Terra were never together. What is this, some kind of shippers fanfic thread?

Besides, Locke always had a thing for Celes. You saw the way he blushed when he saw her in that dress at the opera house when she...

oh, fark.

Don't forger Yuffie.

I actually talked about this game today with some kids who were about 15 years old. Made me feel like an adult for once in my life. Still cool to see that it's not just us old farts. Literally over 20 titles to choose from and they still like FF5,6, and 7 the best.

and don't forget about Rachel. But yeah, there's no romance between Locke and Terra; Locke tries to protect her and Celes but the romance only develops with Celes.

As long as all the Final Fantasy ones are getting listed, no love for Cecil and Rosa (+ Kain?).

My memory is clearly going, but early on I thought it was Locke and Terra (you could feel the 16 bit sexual tension) and then it became clear that Terra was unstable and an esper so he settled for Celes.

I thought I was "with it", but apparently I'm an old curmudgeon because I haven't got even the slightest idea who these characters are that you guys are talking about.

Do these games tell the story through the gameplay? Or is it all laid out in cutscenes?

Did she say yes, out of character, and then said no, in character, "because it's not something [charactername] would do!" ?

He probably puts her Ikea furniture together for her and fixes her computer, too. And wonders why she always says he's such a good friend....

What about "A Boy and his Blob", or "the remarkable romance of a young gamer and his gamer gf"

Because everyone knows female gamers don't exist and male gamers don't have girlfriends.

Kano and Sonya.

In all reality, the list has Shepard and... Liara? Seriously? Do no one except true gamers believe in the viability of Garrus and Tali?

Or Silent Hill 2? I forget the main guy's name, but that was just one long story of heartsick remorse.

The ending of FF6 was like "That was a clown who DESERVED his ass kicking and I've earned this."

The ending of FF7 was like "I'm not crying. There's just a lot of dust in the, oh and there's kids okay I'll admit it I'm crying."

The ending of FF10 was like "Took me 60 hours, but Titus finally SHUT UP! Hoozah!"

Eh, I liked it. Much better than some of the more recent FF efforts. Though I haven't played FF13-2 yet.

FFX-2 was decent, once you get past the obvious attempt to bring in a female audience or the 10 minute cut scene music concert.

Indeed, there is ever so much of Minsc to search.

/The Jaheira romance in BG2 was pretty good.
//Of course the mod with the Imoen romance was , , , interesting.

Something I couldn't do. I didn't feel like playing dress-up, I'd rather just play something else. I skipped 12 and 13, played the demo to 13-2, it seems kinda cool, but not something I want to drop 60 bucks on at this point.
