I'm pretty sure "popular vote" doesn't mean what you think it does.....

I'm cool with however marriage equality was achieved, short of violence, of course.

Washington, Washington. Same-sex marriage, legalized, done. Now it's fine to have two grooms at a time, yup, two sets of testicles, so divine

LordZorch: I'm pretty sure "popular vote" doesn't mean what you think it does.....

Yeah. It would be nice, but... no. Leave that for the Mormons and fundie nutjobs to get on the ballot. THEN Washington will uphold it by popular vote, just like we did R-71.

Cool... Right on.

Anything the state does by definition is violence. What gives the majority the right to force gay marriage on the minority who oppose it? This is just the next step in the ongoing erosion of our constitutional freedoms.

I looked and thought.. 'That can't possibly be...' but once testicles were involved, the song was stuck in my head.

Does Washington really want to suffer the same fate as Iowa? Just look at how the very fabric of society has crumbled there.

Can't wait to go to my first two-guys wedding. Women love the gays. Happy hunting grounds where I can show my support and overcompensate for my heterosexuality.

Well only need 3/4 of the states to force a constitutional amendment. A good next step.

State legislature is not popular vote, but it's still a perfectly valid way to do it. If the people of WA have a problem with it they can do a ballot measure or vote in some people to overturn it. Just don't run crying to a judge if either of those things happens.

If it stays as it is it should be interesting to hear the explanations from the religious crowd as to why society hasn't fallen apart yet.

Funny how Canada hasn't suffered the wrath of Jeebus yet, and it's been legal here for years. It's 2012, people, and it's time to stop thinking you're better than everyone else. Try to make me drink from a different water fountain and this gay guy will take care of business.

It's a question of Religious Liberty. The state has no right to force people to accept gay marriage. Between this, and the prop 8 ruling, religious conservatives are going to get riled up this election.

That is precisely what should happen if a ballet measure prohibits gay marriage.

Now we just have to get the righteous, impartial (unelected) judges in there to overturn the improper will of those damn people of Washington!

Right, Mittens?

Strong in the sparsely populated east, non-existant in the west/Seattle where things matter.

The main role of the state is to monopolize the use of violence. Without monopolizing violence, there really isn't even a state.

Your tears of oppression feed me. News flash: Marriage is no longer a religious thing, get used to it.

If we allow the government to suppress peoples rights in the name of some religious cult, we have failed.
