As for House... Good. 8 years is one too many. I firmly believe in the Star Trek "7 years and out" rule for most series. Sure, if it's something like Doctor Who, or Law and Order, where you can have full cast and production crew overhauls and not miss a beat, that's one thing... but a show like House... It's just time for it to go.

No, it makes sense.

Everyone's contract is up after this year. Contract renegotiations will probably mean either larger salaries or people will leave. And I doubt Universal will give anyone more money, since their unwillingness to pay more is why Lisa Edelstein left after last season.

So, NBC will get nothing more than a long in the tooth House-lite, probably missing Wilson (who wanted to leave after last season anyway, IIRC) among others, and the show will cost a fortune because it's been on the air so long. And, who knows if it will get the same ratings on NBC it did on Fox. I mean, people actually watch Fox. NBC? Not so much.
