I want him to sing this song next time, in its entirety:

Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall

Just be thankful for what you've got
Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back

You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall
Just be thankful for what you've got

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh

Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac
Gangsta whitewalls
TV antennas in the back
You may not have a car at all
But remember brothers and sisters
You can still stand tall

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh

[Instrumental Interlude]

Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top
Diggin' the scene
With a gangsta lean, wooh-ooh-ooh
Diamond in the back, sunroof top

saintstryfe: Lou Brown: FTFA: But historical patterns do not take into account an opponent who says he enjoys firing people.

You know, this is the type of disingenuous bullshiat that drives me crazy. Here's what Romney actually said:

"I like being able to fire people who provide services to me... You know, if someone doesn't give me the good service I need, I want to say, 'You know, I'm going to get someone else to provide this service to me.'"

That's a far cry from saying he enjoys firing people. It's something I imagine people would agree with in most cases. For many reasons, health insurance isn't one of those cases, but overall the author is totally misrepresenting what Romney was trying to say.

I have no moral qualms with discrediting a person like him. He would and I'm sure has gladly done it to everyone, including the President. He is a scummy man, and I don't have any issues with being scummy in response.

That's a very slippery slope, though. You can justify a lot of things by that reasoning.

The mods are touchy about that. This post may have crossed the line itself somehow because it refers to the unreferables.

MartinD-35: CapnBlues: For a toolbox harvard grad elitist owned by the corporate machine, I gotta say, our president is a pretty cool guy. I mean, compared to the toolbox yale grad elitist owned by the corporate machine we had before, he's a freakin rock star.

Fortunately the comparison is like lead and helium to start with so there is no comparison. It's not even a Martin compared to a Takamine, it's more like a D-35 compared to a rock. But we are often a nation of idiots, so everything is always up for grabs in the end - even a Santorum. He's like Bachman, only a little crazier ULP!

I'm an HD-28 guy, myself, though it's been 12 years or more since i've played a 35. You get used to what you play the most, I guess. :)

No, really he isn't. "I like being able to fire people" isn't really all that far of a cry from saying he enjoys firing people. It's only a one word qualification away from it, in fact. The "context" you're offering doesn't diminish the meaning of the quote anyway. Yeah, he likes being able to fire insurance companies. In explaining that, he began with the phrase "I like being able to fire people." His statement of who he particularly enjoys firing does not undermine or diminish the generalization.

Public Personality:
"I like being able to eat good food. You know, if someone doesn't give me the good food I like, I want to say 'you know, I'm going to get someone else to provide this food to me."

News Media:
"So you like being able to eat good food?"

You:
"ZOMG!!! HE SAID NOTHING LIKE THAT. PUT THAT STATEMENT IN FULL CONTEXT YOU LIBERAL SCUM!!! ZOMG!!! OH NOES!!!"

Mitt Romney likes being able to fire people. He likes being in a position of authority that permits him to disrupt the lives of people he considers subordinate to him by causing them short term economic distress, and possible long term career damage. That's the full import of what he said. Given his vulture capitalist background, I believe him.

What's the worst thing Obama could do? Yeah, Romney did that, try again, what else? Yeah, Romney did that too. What else? Yep, Romney did that. What else? Yeah, Romney did all of those.

Wait, Romney might not win? Hah, Gingrich did all of the above AND was corrupt. Wait, Santorum? Teehee. Obama would have won re-election against a strong opponent and instead he's faced with these guys.

Only thing I can think of is Obama doesn't put his name on any ballots, and even then I think it's a close race with him as the write in candidate.

The greatest threat to Obama's re-election is the perception that it is inevitable. Progressives have a nasty habit of not turning out to vote if they think victory is assured, or if they think defeat is inevitable, or if the weather is bad, or if their toenails need trimming, or if it's laundry day...

Getting them out to vote is like herding cats. And it's why progressives deserve to lose.

Wow, you're really reaching to come up with that load of crap. We saw in 2010 what an apathetic left plus a motivated right gets us. Romney doesn't seem able to inspire, but Gingrich or Santorum could. Gingrich's scandals are old news, politically, while Santorum is nuts but remarkably untouched by scandal, and both could rile up the religious base; Gingrich because he knows the key words, and Santorum because he's legitimately religious (and would come off as sincere). Throw in a regressing economy or some other sort of crisis, and Election Night could be an anxious night for Obama supporters.

There is the flip side, of course, where Gingrich/Santorum brings out the left against them because they're farking crazy.

its also an exceptionally stupid thing for a politician that has already lost races because he reminded voters of the "guy who fired them" and his opponents brought up working class every-men who had actually been fired by him to talk about it, who repeatedly talks about his wealth and privledge in a way that alienates everyone but who is (at the same time) desperately trying to pretend that he is just a normal middle class person who can feel empathy with anyone other than ultra rich vulture capatilists to say.

so no matter the specific "context" romney is dumber than a brick for phrasing it as "i love to fire people!" instead of "i think choice for everyone is good" with the massive political baggage he has. And the way he said it, even in context, most people believe he honestly does like firing people in any situation.

It's a good thing I didn't say he just enjoys firing people. I said he enjoys being able to fire people. Which is exactly what he said. And which is not undermined or qualified by his statement of a particular context in which he enjoys firing people. It's disingenuous to say I said he just enjoys firing people. What I said is totally different.

This is one of the GOP's saving hopes. There's going to be concern-trolling this year the likes of which God himself has never seen.

That and vote suppression. My own state's Secretary of State is a dedicated Republican operative and has been busy looking for ways to keep ballots out of the hands of voters in the liberal cities.
