I feel really bad for BR, though. He's been a fixture in San Diego for ages. I guess he'll get another job doing color commentary or the sports segment on a news station again, but bringing him down with this was just stupid.

XX1090 must have been looking for a reason to get rid of both of them. There's no reason you couldn't pair BR with someone else. Hell, bring in Leitner. They could play off each other brilliantly, and he works a lot more cheaply now than in his heyday.

SkittlesAreYum: He went over the line when he said he wasn't sure she'd been a woman her entire life, but calling a female player a "beast" and "monster" isn't offensive at all. If you play sports those are compliments. Hell, for some reason the word "freak" is the highest compliment to be paid a football player (see Calvin Johnson, Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul, etc.)

When part of your job description is "be huge/strong; and knock the other huge/strong people out of your way", being called a "beast" means you're doing it right.

if he had described a male basketball player as 'beast', 'monster' and 'sasquatch of a man', it would be interpreted as the highest of compliments.

And when golfers don't hit a putt strong enough, it is called Nancy-ing it. It means you hit the putt like a woman - too soft and weakly. Nobody gets fired for calling men soft. Why should people be fired for calling woman hard?
