Just happy to see the Caps managing to score on the power play against the Panthers. Noe if they could play like that outside the Phone Booth...

robsul82: jekostas: I mean, how many top goalies in the league don't come across as total headcases? People talk about Pekka Rinne being a really level-headed, even keeled kind of guy because it's so damned rare.

AFAIK, Marty's been a pretty normal dude, outside of his love life.

Marty's love life is plenty proof he's nuts.

Call me when this happens again...

The funniest part of that game is that Brendan Shanahan still found a way to hand someone a 3-game suspension.

Love the match up. As a wings fan, obviously love the wings, but it's great to have a Canadian team in it for the first time as well. Also, I like having a classic with two members of the original six.

Agreed, and a complete momentum killer as well.

The chippy play was entertaining, and Thornton going full ape-shiat was hilarious.

Indeed.

What are you talking about? The Wings vs Leafs games generate huge interest and are some of the hardest tickets to get. Before the Leafs changed conferences, the Wings were their biggest rival. Even with 110,000 or so tickets available, they're going to be hard to get.

As long as they're out of the Central, I'm OK with this.

That's what I talking about.

Keeping with the original six tradition is cool and I can respect that aspect of it, but these two teams don't meet up often enough to have a rivalry that's anything more than a nod to times long past.

/I'd actually prefer Rangers-Isles, but that's at least partially because I wouldn't have to drive as far.

Jesus Christ... After last night's embarrassment in Buffalo, maybe Tim Thomas should worry about what he's paid to do instead of making sophomoric political posts on Facebook.

Not taking anything away from Buffalo, because they took the game to the Bruins and got the better of them, but that was the worst I've seen the Bruins play in a very long time.

And here's the thing that bugs me the most about Tim Thomas right now. He makes these grand political pronouncements and then refuses to back them up when asked about them. That tells me he either doesn't have the strength of his convictions or he doesn't have a firm enough grasp of the issue to defend his words intelligently. I suspect it's the later and he's just parroting whatever he's spoon fed by the political pundits of his choice.

Comparing a Health Care Mandate to Nazi Germany is just beyond the pale and cheapens the horrific evil that was done by the Nazis. It's the type of ridiculous hyperbole that has become part of the American political landscape and it's pathetic, plain and simple.

All of that aside, Tim Thomas is making a distraction of himself and he's not doing his team any favors with this nonsense. He certainly has a right to speak his mind, but so do I.

Shut the fark up and stop the pucks, Tim.

I just don't understand why he's engaging in this kind of nonsense now... If it's a "personal matter", then don't make public announcements about it.

Better to keep your mouth shut and let others suspect you're a fool than open it up and confirm those suspicions, as the saying goes.

All I know is, if the Bruins don't get their shiat together soon, I suspect a shake up in the near future.

Horrible hockey in all three zones last night.

That I don't know... I won't even hazard a guess since I'm usually spectacularly wrong about these things. : )

I'm not digging the whole political thing either, though it really is getting blown out of proportion. He should have simply sucked it up, went on the team visit to the WH, and been done with it.

As far as performance, this team has looked like shiat ever since the Vancouver loss, and it's beyond aggravating at this point. I'm not worried about Thomas and Rask stopping pucks really. They can stand on their heads, and we still lose because our offense is farking abysmal.

We realize that you're hell bent on hoping that point shots with absolutely no one in front of the net magically go in, but it's not working out for you, and never has. So stop it.

This is all true... They need to get back on track, that's for sure.

It's not the end of the world, of course... I'm still sticking to my vow to not get too upset if the Bruins fail spectacularly this season, though. I had such a good time last season with the Cup win that I'm willing to give them a bit of a pass this season.

Having said that, get your shiat together, boys!

I just want to say I saw the shootout in the WCHL before they had it in the NHL and I thought, "This is exciting as hell the NHL should do this!" and they did. Screw people who don't like it, it's freaking awesome.

I don't mind the shootout (not my first choice, but it works), I just don't think a SOL should be worth a point. A loss is a loss, so no points.

Okay, Timmy's gone from crazy to straight-up retarded. When questioned about what he posted on his Facebook page, he responded saying that anything he put on there is private and not for public discussion. You know, on his public profile that anyone can see.

This less than a month after using his Facebook page to make a public statement as to why he didn't attend the team function at the White House.

I think a 15 year old emo kid may be posing as Tim Thomas with an elaborate latex mask at this point.

My opinion is he lacks a firm enough grasp of the issue to defend his pronouncements intelligently. So he pulls this "It's a personal matter" nonsense. He knows he's going to get torn apart on the issue by people that are smarter and more informed than him. Like I said, like many people in this country, unfortunately, he's just parroting what he's being spoon fed by the political pundits of his choice. (Glenn Beck? Give me a farking break.)

I've lost a lot of respect for the man in the last month, to be honest. I don't look to sports figures for deep political thought, of course, but I thought he was smarter than that and his selfishness is starting to effect his team, who also have to answer questions which Thomas refuses to.

Hell of a goalie, but doesn't appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed, that's for sure.
