I wouldn't have let the science classes scare me and would've been a physical therapist instead of a librarian. I wouldn't gossip so much.

There are people I would have been better to, not lost track of and, of course, I'd invest in microsoft and apple.

2012-02-08 09:20:23 AM
If it weren't for my horse, I never would have spent that year in college.

2012-02-08 09:21:07 AM
Take control of my college savings plan so my dad wouldn't steal it. Get a job across the country away from my family, failing that, definitely not moved home to save money after college.

2012-02-08 09:25:09 AM
if I knew then what I know now...

3.bp.blogspot.com

...I wouldn't have had my little accident.

2012-02-08 09:26:51 AM
I would have learned spanish.
I would have never fallen madly in love with a good for nothing asshole who was abusive.
I would have graduated high school, and gone to college.
I would have been nicer to my grandparents.

I would...have a very different life than I do now.

2012-02-08 09:27:36 AM
start hittin' on the high school teachers

2012-02-08 09:28:28 AM
Not much would be different. I'd still be the clueless loser with no friends. But in my early 20s, I'd definitely steer clear of the person I met in college who proceeded to make my life a living hell for the next decade. With any luck I'd have moved out of the parents' house sooner, gotten laid sooner - hell, maybe there'd even be a Mrs. macaroni!! and a couple of little macaroni!!s by now.

2012-02-08 09:31:28 AM
Would have never joined the military, would have taken a lot more shop and engineering courses. Would have realized then that my ideas have merit, and I could make money with them.

Only now, at 25, am I realizing this. And, being jobless, it doesn't help. But I'm working on that. I'll have a job, and so some working capital, soon.

swaxhog: Replay

I just bought the kindle version of that book a couple days ago. It was so good I read it all in 1 day. I highly recommend it.

2012-02-08 09:33:02 AM
I would've picked up a lot of domain names in the early 90s.

2012-02-08 09:35:04 AM
I would have stopped Glenn Beck from raping and murdering that young girl in 1990.

2012-02-08 09:35:18 AM
I'd be a professional actor/muscian/MotoGP racer.

or fat.

2012-02-08 09:40:29 AM
1. More confidence with all the girls I didn't talk to.
2. Would've picked up the hobbies I love now, but didn't know about then.
3. Memorize a decent sized lotteries' numbers.

I'm happy with the way things are now, so all of that wouldn't majorly change my net happiness. But I would have fewer regrets about missed opportunities and stuff I couldn't do back then.
Except for the money security cushion. That's planning for the future.

2012-02-08 09:44:25 AM
I would have bought a lot more gold and silver

2012-02-08 09:45:43 AM
i would have been the student who was caught with the teacher

2012-02-08 09:51:14 AM
Would have tried to get with the girl I crushed on all of high school, and probably gone to college at ASU or somewhere nice instead of the wintery hell hole I went to.

2012-02-08 09:51:56 AM
not have dated the 2 guys who stalked me, and just say no to meth.
also would have avoided the car accident which has me in chronic pain.
/life's not all bad tho I have a wonderful healthy relationship w/my guy for 9 years.

2012-02-08 09:53:45 AM
If I were 15 again, I would have to revert back to being a minor living under my pentacostal minister father's tyrannical rule. Only unlike before, I would have the mind of an adult who had tasted freedom and seen the outside world...I think I'd probably slash my wrists in under a month.

2012-02-08 09:56:28 AM
I would have made different choices, avoiding some painful consequences, which in turn would have prevented me from learning from these mistakes, causing me to "unlearn" the lessons I used to make these better decisions, opening the way for me to make brand new mistakes with totally unpredictable results.

2012-02-08 09:56:52 AM
I would never have voted Democrat. I think everyone's a Democrat when they're young and dumb, and then they grow up.

2012-02-08 09:56:57 AM
Another green? Damn, I'm getting a lot of those this year.

2012-02-08 10:00:17 AM
I would have:

-Invested...blah blah blah.

-Visited the guys who pulled off 9/11 about a month before it happened and gone all BTK on them.
-Hooked up with that italian chick and dumped that swiss chick when I got back.
-Gotten to know my great grandmother as she would be dead in 3 years.
-Started planning to meet my now wife sooner so that I could have more time with her.
-Gotten to know my old man a little more.
-Not made the mistakes that I did, since I already learned those lessons.

2012-02-08 10:00:49 AM
I'd be wealthy, I'd be mentally healthier, I'd be in a happy relationship, probably married, and life in general would have gone much better.

2012-02-08 10:04:39 AM
I would have avoided narcissists and crazy guys and been much more forward about approaching nice, nice-looking guys for sex. Didn't know at the time that the nice ones would really, truly put out that easily. Ah, but the hazard--he gets some nice and easy and you aren't a biatch to him and you don't play games---pretty soon he's sure it's True Love.

At least I don't have that on my conscience.

2012-02-08 10:05:48 AM
Of course, you never know. If he was that nice, might've been mutual, but with the emotional age difference? I'd feel like a predator.

2012-02-08 10:06:56 AM
I'd work my ass off to do as much investing into Microsoft as I could and then the Apple thing when Steve was rehired.

I'd go and make up for the missed opportunities, and truly enjoy my youth.

I'd try to see if I could get together with the girl (once she'd be old enough) that is now my wife and see if it could work if we meet at a much earlier age and have the kids with her instead.

I'd would buy so much stuff that I know that has increased in value or that I simply can't get.

Kick my family and relatives to the curb a LOT earlier.

Not give a crap about other people and what they tough of me.

As the investment would flourish and the money coming in, travel a lot more, and get a great house where I could have all the toys I've ever wanted, which includes a huge workshop for wood and metal work.

Yep, me too. MS was a startup when I was 15, I would have invested everything, be a gazzionaire right now, kicked back on my own private beach right now with 20 hot women and a team of scientist working on ways they could be nice to me.

/also, wouldn't be posting on fark.com

Crappy, but at least I would have avoided fighting those Nausicaans.

2012-02-08 10:14:04 AM
I would never have married that slag. And i would have practiced the fiddle more. And took that scholarship. And learned to dance earlier.

2012-02-08 10:19:37 AM
I would have preemptively dumped my H.S. sweetheart before college, gotten a better degree with better grades, and NEVER started my own business. I'd still have my current wife and kids, and a hell of a lot more money.

Besides being rich from capitalizing on 25 years of advanced knowledge?

I totally would have scored with two of my high school teachers. I never even thought it was possible at the time, just an idle fantasy, but now I know that I should have taken a shot at it.

2012-02-08 10:26:47 AM
I would have had a lot more sex, gone to a real college, then continued with the sex.

2012-02-08 10:28:40 AM
Give me 10 minutes of research about the specific dates of changes in the stock market, then I'm good to go.

Oh, and I'm with Rafterman2: I totally would have banged that one chick, too.

2012-02-08 10:28:46 AM
Bought a Dunkin Donuts

2012-02-08 10:35:40 AM
Also, i would have founded a biatchen craft brewery on both coasts of america! that would be amazing.

2012-02-08 10:37:24 AM
I would never have worn those damn parachute pants.

I would have stopped smoking right then.

I would have been buying gold at $35/ounce - its legal fixed price then.

Would have had the money to buy the house I grew up in before it got bulldozed for an office building site.

I would have also stopped going along with everyone else's program.

2012-02-08 10:37:27 AM
Would've spent more time becoming engaged in extracurricular activities surrounding my major field of study in college. I did a couple of things, but I guess potential employers are looking for more. Or, simply realize my fascination with computers and technology earlier than I actually did, and study something along those lines in college, so I could have a more practical degree and, likely, better-paying job right now.

2012-02-08 10:38:04 AM
As a chemist, I would be dead. I now know simple ways to make explosives and I then had little impulse control
/BOOM

2012-02-08 10:42:12 AM
I would think that i would

Be more assertive with girls in HS
move when that fullback dove at my knee in my sophomore year and destroyed my ACL
stay in better shape
Not wasted my time with that one girl in college
Spent more time and put in more effort with that other girl in college
Placed bets on the winner of each World Series, Super Bowl, BCS Champion, NBA /NHL Finals, EPL, Champions league, World Cup, Olympics, 4 Nations, Cricket championship, Boston Marathon etc
Win every single March Madness pool i entered from 1993 up.
Make a few wise investments (Google, apple, Housing market etc.)
Never move in with that one girl
Never trust that other girl, or that other one, or the one after that
Spent more time with my dad

but knowing me....i would just end up doing it all the same

2012-02-08 10:49:25 AM
There's a lot in 13 years I've learned since then.

Most of it I wouldn't change, as right now I'm happy in my life. I'm where I kind of always wanted to be and I'm able to still do the things I want.

There's a girl I would have been a much better boyfriend to, there's a girl I should have never done things with... There's a fair amount of drug abuse and addiction I was able to kick myself but I could have just taken it easier at the time...

The things I've done throughout the years have made me the person I am and taken me to the places I am at in my life... and for the most part, I'm ok with that.

2012-02-08 10:50:00 AM
That depends. If "what I know" means "recall the experiences I've had since 15"...well...I'd:

- figure out a way to master calculus so that I might have gone forward with my chemistry degree instead of switching to history
- acquired study habits in high school so I didn't suffer so much in college
- not dated that one girl in high school (to whom I owe a rather large apology to this day), definitely dated that other girl and most definitely avoided like the frickin' plague that one woman I knew before I met my wife
- get married and have kids earlier than I did
- use the 12 years I'd still have to spend more time with my little sister and treat her better before she passes away
- quit football earlier, get my shoulder repaired and play baseball longer

Other than that, my current life isn't so bad that I'd want to wholesale change it. I'd want my wife and kids and job. I like where I live. I have good friends and get along with my folks. None of us ever have enough money but more money wouldn't necessarily buy me more happiness (it would buy me more comfort though).

I'd pretty much just want to take better advantage of the opportunities I had, not get too discouraged by the obstacles and avoid the heartbreak and bad personal decisions and not look back 30 years later and have as many regrets. I don't actually have too many regrets but that makes the ones I do have stand out more in my mind.

2012-02-08 10:55:09 AM
if i could wake up tomorrow at 15 and know what i do NOW - first off, I would have farked Margaret back when she wanted to instead of being frightened, and tell myself not to listen to my stupid step-father and NOT go in the farking navy at his suggestion, made my mom put me thru college (she was making 90 grand a year in 1988, she could have afforded to send me to at least community college) while also making sure that vodka didn't take over my teenage years to the detriment of my high school career.

also, I would date and bang every single hot girl that crossed my path. Including Deanna, the smoking hot cheerleader that died of cancer a couple years ago. Man, she was something to behold back in high school.

Then I would basically just sit back and wait for my awesome current wife to grow up so that I could meet her earlier and save us both some goddamn time and frustration.

2012-02-08 10:57:51 AM
I guess I would not have kids. I bet I could make a fortune from sports gambling

2012-02-08 11:12:44 AM
1. Kiss the damn girl when you've got the chance.
2. Taking the fat chick to prom may be perhaps one the shallowest moves of your life. Do it anyways.
3. Don't skate through the rest of high school.
4. Quit football at the end of that year instead of wasting another year of everybody's time.
5. Move out of your fathers house and never talk with him again.
6. Stay in shape.

/18.

2012-02-08 11:15:15 AM
Probably would have committed seppuku. I'd've known what the next 15 years had in stock for me. While I like my life right now, my 15 year old self would have been mortified.

/I make kink toys for a living.
//I'd wanted to be a scientist.

2012-02-08 11:15:23 AM
-get in shape and stay in shape
-take Spanish classes all through high school instead of the minimum 2 years, take a different language in college
-known who to make friends with when I transferred high schools Sophomore year and who to avoid (and continue to do this all throughout high school to avoid toxic people that I didn't get rid of until college)
-quit smoking-both cigarettes and weed (one a health- and money-waster, the other a time-waster)
-saved money instead of wasting it every week on stupid movies (I'm looking at you Jack Frost) with a boy that was never interested in girls
-not gotten into that car accident that destroyed my first car, broke my hand (which still hurts when it gets cold), and gave my family ammunition against me forever in my driving and decision-making abilities
-taken different classes in both high school and college
-not wasted time/money on prom or any high school dance/party
-researched more scholarships
-applied to more colleges
-not go to the same university as all my friends
-finished college the first time around
-moved back to hometown at 25 so I could still meet my current husband (otherwise, no deal)

2012-02-08 11:25:05 AM
Better.

/One word answer?
//You'd better believe it!

2012-02-08 11:26:21 AM

hobodojo: /I make kink toys for a living.
//I'd wanted to be a scientist.

That doesn't sound like too bad of a trade.

Every time one of these "if you knew" threads comes up, I get depressed. I should stop reading and participating in them.

2012-02-08 11:29:58 AM
I would have stopped 9/11 and Justin Bieber.

/I would make bets at the begining of the year on th eteam to take the Superbowl.
//I would have put more of an emphasis on "quantity" over "quality" re: the ladies.
///Lots of stuff. Too much to mention here, but those are the more Fark appropriate.
