Santorum retakes the lead according to the google link.

8838 Santorum
8120 Romney

57.9% reporting.

2012-02-08 12:46:55 AM
Paleorific: balloot: Nate Silver tweeting that Romney is getting POUNDED in El Paso county. Santorum +1700 there with almost all the votes counted. Those votes are not yet reflected in the official tally.

Well, that is Focus on the Family territory.

In Real America, Santorum pounds out Romney.

I'm having so much fun with this craziness.

Provides a good distraction too, I forgot that people can see what you post on other people's facebook walls even if they're not mutual friends, and it sort of outed me to my parents. Oh well, that's done, now on the entertainment of the Republicanopalypse.

seventypercent: Fox now reporting that Romney's lead in Colorado is only 14 votes.

What's the tone of the people doing the coverage? Suicidal? Glee? Haven't a fark to give either way?

CapnBlues: Earguy: Only 8% of precincts reporting in Colorado, but Santorum has 49% of the vote there.

Oh, could you imagine the LULz if Santorum wins all these, big?

i feel like Santorum could really get us to the apocalypse.

/did you know that the guy who voiced apocalypse in the 1990's X-Men cartoon was also the guy who played Gaius Baltar on the original Battlestar Galactica series?

John Colicos? Really? That's pretty cool. (also was Kor on Star Trek and DS9)

No delegates are decided in any of the races tonight. This is purely a dog and pony show

You would think the Church of LDS would decide all the Utah border counties for Romney.

Shrugging Atlas: What's the tone of the people doing the coverage? Suicidal? Glee? Haven't a fark to give either way?

To be honest, that's the only reason I was watching Fox. They've been pretty much in the tank for Romney, since the folks at Fox are not stupid and correctly believe that Romney represents the most significant threat to Obama in the general election. The panel there is a little glum. It's a bit difficult to judge how glum, since Fred Barnes isn't there, but Charles Krauthammer is clearly not happy.

2012-02-08 12:54:39 AM
If the Denver Post's report of Santorum beating Romney like a drum to the tune of 1700 votes in El Paso county, Mitt is toast.

It appears that Jefferson's votes (for Romney) are in, but El Paso's votes (presumably for Frothy) are not. I'd say it looks very good for Santorum.

I totally forgot there were caucuses today and just read this thread without turning on CNN or anything...and all I can say is holy fark, the GOP race has gone full-on insane.

Well, the thing is these dog and pony shows are generally what determines the bandwagon effect and media attention on particular candidates. No clear front runner on those fronts, delegate count be damned, is not a positive indicator for the GOP by any means.

Romney takes Jefferson county, barely. Not gonna be enough once El Paso goes big for Santorum.

If that's true, I think it's a Santorum win, given that all of the other outstanding counties seem to have about 12 people caucusing.

/Colorado has spoken and it says "Eh".

jbc: It's probably a good bet some of those voters plan on voting for Obama in the fall and voted for Santorum today just to fark with Romney.

Unfortunately, there are also some dumbfarks who truly think Santorum would make a good POTUS.

I'm way late to the thread, but guilty as charged. Missouri has open primaries, so I grabbed a Republican ballot and voted for Santorum in hopes of contributing to great lulz this evening. You're welcome, everybody.

From Nate Silver...

The other swing county that we told you to watch in Colorado, Mesa County, has broken against Mr. Romney. Rick Santorum took 47 percent of the vote there, to Mr. Romney's 36 percent.

Although Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum are virtually tied in network counts in Colorado right now, those figures do not include El Paso County, home to Colorado Springs, where the Denver Post reported that Mr. Santroum netted about 1,700 votes.

Meanwhile, most of the remaining areas that have yet to report are rural and look slightly unfavorable on balance for Mr. Romney.

I have MS and no health insurance, but am forced to pay for insurance for Santorum and his family. Ask me how sympathetic I am to him about a little frickin glitter.

I totally support Universal Health Care. My objection to the glitter is NOT out of concern for any discomfort on behalf of their targets. It's because it is doing the CAUSE more harm than good.

Can we call it a man on dog and pony show? It's just too entertaining to be belittled like that. May not be positive for the GOP but I'll bet cable news channel ratings are better than usual.

falcon176: why is multi million Mitt losing in all three states

I said all along that the religious wing of the party willnot allow a Mormon to be nominated. I was beginning to wonder about my previous statements regarding it, but now, I am beginning to think I was right. Of course, Missouri and Minnesota are heavy Catholic states, so Santorum has that going for him.
