Troopers from the barracks in Greensburg announced they were investigating the incident

Overkill, maybe?

Wow, things must be slow in that town. No other crimes going on, nothing else to investigate?

All unemployed males over the age of 21 are already in prison.

They're working on the high schoolers now.

I think there should be a quantity requirement for arresting anyone.

If each kid got a tiny sip of ONE beer, I'd say nobody was at risk of intoxication or alcohol poisoning. Punish the kid who supplied it with a stay overnight in lock-up, just to scare him, and tell the other kids that you're watching them.

Doing anything severe at this point is just moronic.

It seems like the reasonable thing to do would be point out that they were stupid enough to get caught this time, so they probably should push their luck twice.

But why be reasonable?

When I went to middle school in eastern Pennsylvania in the late 90s, one of my classmates stole liquor from his parents to sell to the high schoolers.

as a graduate of Hempfield Area Senior High (HASH), i can assure you that there is, indeed, very little that happens around here. with the rare exception of a tortured + murdered mentally disabled woman a couple years ago, this place is boring.

i think the 14 year old kid in question is in my stepson's class. he did come home a little tipsy the other day. ;)

In some countries you can buy beer at 14, it's not considered a big deal.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere PA and that happened all the time. Once some 8th graders got drunk at lunch because one of them heard that vodka couldn't be detected on the breath. Even if true, I don't think their plan would have worked with four more classes to get through.

If you're 14 and getting beer from your older brother, wisdom isn't something that runs in the family.

11 students sharing a single beer is one of the funniest things I've read today....lol.

power 1 minute!

Because nobody that ever snuck a beer at 14 has ever made anything of themselves!

Yeah, that's it. Everyone knows alcohol is a deadly poison until the very minute you turn 21....

As someone suspended in grade 8 for a few days. I can say it's not a very good idea to even just bring a few beer to school whether to share or sell.

Not that I ever drank at school myself, but the whole trick is to be discreet. It works. Or so I heard. Not that I ever tried it myself. Now if you'll excuse me, my pants are suddenly ablaze.

If you're going to drink at school the best root is vodka in a water bottle.

Gothnet: Because nobody that ever snuck a beer at 14 has ever made anything of themselves!

Most people didn't try to sneak that drink in at school.

I would suggest that MOST people who drank during school at 14 are not rising that high in life...

When I was in middle school, I poured a beer into a water bottle, wrapped it in tin foil, snuck it to school, and stealthy drank it in the bathroom with two other boys.

It was Bud light and it was warmer than piss, and we were trying to be as quiet as possible to avoid getting thrown out of the school (zero tolerance would've meant we probably would've been expelled for trying to drink this warm urine.)

And hell, I was a cool kid from then on, because I brought shiatty american beer to middle school. Ah, to be young and ignorant again.

Ummm... soo... who gave the older brother the alcohol? He's only 19 and, last time I checked, you need to be 21 to buy beer. .

Yo! Didn't drink durign school very often (a handfull of times in total) but it doesn't seem to have ruined me. You'd be surprised what (some of) the smart kids getting good grades are getting up to in the early teens.

Especially in an all male school where sexual experimentation is for the few, rather than the many...

At least it wasnt Adderall or Xanax. All the cool high schoolers have those hard drugs these days.

does this also apply to when you let your creepy uncle touch you for a six pack?

I used a friend's ID to buy, and was lucky the clerk didn't ask me my middle name.
