Hope this isn't a toothless enterprise ala Twilight.

Or if you prefer ultra low-budget cheesy movies, there's Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. It came out back in 2006, and features horrible acting, Kung-Fu action sequences, and even a musical number.

How did that not get Oscar consideration?

I'm with jbmmwest, I really enjoyed the book. Had a hard time putting it down. I'm looking forward to the movie and hope they do a decent job with it.

Last year when they were doing filming for it around here I kept wondering what the "ALVH" signs meant. My wife and I had made a game out of creating acronyms for it. In retrospect, I wish I had followed the signs and seen some of the filming.

Benjamin Walker looks good as Lincoln, but I can't wait to see who they pick to play Willow and Xander.

Reading the book right now, so I'm getting a kick. And it appears Alan Tudyk is playing Stephen Douglas? I can't see him playing someone who was supposedly so dreadfully dull. Was hoping he'd be Henry. And it's not going to have Poe in it?

If that is the one with the lebsians, I am certain I rented that living in Portlandia before I moved away in 05. If that's a different one... awesome!

I love this flick. A silly and entertaining parody of B-movies.

If this film is not rated R when it hits the screens, its going to blow. Nothing worse than watering down a horror movie to get more butts in the theater.

Well, they can't all having vampire babies ripping their way out of the womb, and having the mother's werewolf best friend fall in love with them.

It had vampires, Abraham Lincoln and Poe.

What do YOU think? :-)

Would've been better with Breckin Meyer and Adam Scott.

We bumped into a location set in New Orleans a little while back. I think someone said it was for that film.

I would probably like it. The cinematography in the film looks really good, too.
I'll look for the e-book soonish.

I received an advanced copy and just loved it. It's fun, a little bit of a thriller, and very well-written. It's nowhere near as kitsch as Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, mind you, but it's definitely worth reading. I loved it.

It does a great job of blending fact (locations, events, etc.) with fantasy. One of my favorite books I read last year. And these are NOT your Twilight vampires. It was a very gory book, so I expect a 'R' rating for this.

Sound right up my alley, except for the horror bit. I usually stay away from that genre, but the rest of it sound pretty Victorian Gothic mystery.
I won't have anything to do with twilight unless it's rifftraxxed.

They don't make R-rated movies anymore. It'll be PG-13. *sigh*

The best part of the book for me is the locations. I have spent a lot of time in the Sangamon River valley being that I have family there.

Ohh yea my dad was born and raised in Peoria, IL. I told him about the book and he loved the locations also.

I'll tell you now though, the main reason I initially bought the book was the cover. How could you not love this?

89 Stick-Up Kid: This sounds like the most retarded idea for a movie.

Actually, it's a fun premise (for instance, Lincoln was catapulted into the presidency because good vampires didn't want evil vampires in the South to turn humans into cattle) but the book was fairly disappointing. The author could have done so much more with the material but just didn't expound enough on some things while concentrating on extraneous stuff (like Poe). Hopefully, the movie can do better.

My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union.

I wish schools would teach that this guy struggled with race like everyone during his time, instead of giving us the Bill O'Reillyish mythic version.

Having him kill vampires is probably closer to any truth I learned about him in High School.

Lincoln was very much anti-slavery, but he was more pro-union than anti-slave (or maybe he was just a realist).
