It looks good. I'm glad they're rebooting the emo Spidey nonsense from the last decade. Peter Parker is supposed to be funny, not whiny.

Personally, I always thought the little emo walk and dance by the clothing store was absolutely hilarious, though I never really took the whole series seriously. I still want to see Spidey and Wolverine team up, though.

wait...another spiderman story, with just slightly different adherence to cannon, batman rebooting every 10 seconds - are they just iterating until they snag us just right?...wth
all that said, and as ironically as possible, this looks like the one I wish they had made last reboot (toby)

It looks pretty good. Too bad the day I walked out after I finished seeing Spider-Man 3 in theaters I swore that I wouldn't pay a dime to see the next Spider-Man movie in a theater.

This is the thread when comic nerds get outraged it's not a continuation of Spidey 3 or the Electric Company.
Yeah, we don't care, because we have sense.

My friend, so long has Sony owns Spidey and 20th Century Fox owns Wolverine, that shall not happen. It's why I had to abandon all hope of a Punisher/Daredevil showdown.

It's the same damn movie I watched 10 years ago. If you're going to reboot a superhero movie, try to do it different. See Nolan's Batman compared to Burton's for further reference.

i really enjoyed the antagonism between J Johan Jameson and spidey in the comics. plus as a character, he was well played by whoever that guy as in the previous movies. sad to see that missing in the new film, and have it replaced with the usual overbearing angry police.
that said, i also liked peter's dilemma in dealing with the lizard. on the one hand, it was a mindless destructive creature that required spidey to use physicality to subdue. on the other hand, he was curt connors, a good friend to peter parker.
anyhoo, emma stone is.. yowza. i.. um. yeah. fap.
and the new peter parker is a freaky bug eyed hipster thats seriously annoying. not sure if he's written better than the moody sullen parker of yore.

So can all these different movie companies come together like the patchwork planet from Secret Wars and give us said film(s)?

Pros: I like how they made Peter smart again. Invented web shooters = win
Cons: It's gonna be emo. The fact that he is in high school makes that automatic.

Pretty much this except for the correct use of Gwen Stacy before MJ. Also using the Lizard for the villain at least avoids a rehash there. I won't see it in theaters but I'll watch it when it comes out for a rental.

not sure if I'll be able to not see Jean Ralphio (of Parks and Rec) in Peter Parker, though.

I dunno. It looks kinda meh. Mr. Cabbage Head doesn't really strike me as a Peter Parker, though, Tobey McGuire was better. The web shooters were cool, though. I agree with the above poster about preferring JJ Jameson as the proper foil for Spidey.

First Class did have some problems and felt a little rushed, but I thought it was otherwise enjoyable and am more excited about a sequel than i was after X3.

I know it'll be a little odd, but maybe they should use a little CGI to make the mask move a little, so the actor/director doesn't need to take off the mask so much just to get some facial expressions. Stop taking off your damn mask! Do it the comic way!

Not feeling it. The kid is unappealing as Peter, the suit looks like an ice dancing costume, the lizard looks awful (look around the web for the concept art), and this whole thing just generally looks like shiat.
Spiderman 1 and especially 2 knocked it out of the park. 3 sucked, but they should have just moved ahead with a fourth in the series and fixed the story of the third in the doing, sort of retroactively explaining things better and having a second go at Venom. Instead: this. I'll be skipping this one.

Trying to be objective and not compare to any other iterations...
How often have you gone back to watch the raimi trilogy? I've tried, and I don't feel that it has held up after 10 years.
I'll enjoy this, but doubt it will hold up either.
