This seems to be a consistent pattern.

I wonder what Thomas Jefferson would say about this?

2012-02-07 01:30:00 PM
Newt would have that judge arrested.

The supreme court will strike down the ruling!

Long live DOMA!!!

PullItOut: Win.

Now can we put this thing to bed, please?

Not until the Supreme Court takes it on, and even then it won't be settled (See Roe v. Wade), just established.

Sure would be nice if we could just follow the 14th amendment and stop denying rights to citizens based on the arbitrary "we don't like you" reason of the decade.

Aww, fark you. I'm a republican, have a gay son and think overturning this ban was the right thing to do.

2012-02-07 01:30:40 PM
Next stop - US Supreme court.

Good riddance. I still haven't heard an argument in favor of a ban that wasn't also used to argue for banning miscegenation.

2012-02-07 01:30:53 PM
the proposition "fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license."

2012-02-07 01:30:58 PM
They're talking about this on MSNBC (have it on in the background) and I actually heard somebody warn that this ruling does not apply nationwide.

Well I for one learned something about politics at the state level today - they're at the state level.

2012-02-07 01:31:01 PM
Neocons WHARRGARBL'ing about "activist judges" in 5....4...3...2....

2012-02-07 01:31:07 PM
Good, their is no logical reason to ban it that doesn't boil down to religious oppression against a minority.

2012-02-07 01:31:07 PM

Superjew: Hey Social Conservatives, hear that sound? That's you being on the wrong side of history again.

They're used to it. (I just don't think they care.)

2012-02-07 01:31:07 PM
The Supreme Court will uphold it.

2012-02-07 01:31:12 PM
This is just this generation's Civil Rights movement. In 50 years kids will read in books holo projectors that the US allowed same sex marriage in all 50 states. And those futurists will be fighting their own civil rights movement of the time, like let people from the south bang a goat or something...To each their own.

2012-02-07 01:31:13 PM
I'm glad Mitt Romney wasted several millions dollars on this.

2012-02-07 01:31:14 PM
I can't believe this had to get that far before being turned down.

2012-02-07 01:31:31 PM
I made the mistake of visiting freerepublic.com to see what they freepers were talking about.

2012-02-07 01:31:32 PM
Hooray! Now if we keep this up, the US might look halfway civilized.

2012-02-07 01:31:36 PM
Good.

9beers: The Supreme Court will uphold it.

Uphold this ruling?

2012-02-07 01:31:37 PM
And Newt Gingrich's "Disband the Ninth Circuit and execute the judges as traitors" rant in 3...2..1....

Activist judges, most overturned circuit court, overturning the will of the people, blah blah blah.

Your time is running out almost as fast as your excuses, bigots.

2012-02-07 01:32:03 PM
Suck it, haters.

"Conservatives" are yet again on the losing side of history.

Don't you fkrs ever get tired of being backward-ass dipshiats?

The amendment or the ruling?

Weaver95: Next stop - US Supreme court.

Next stop is quite possibly an 11-judge 9th Circuit en banc review panel. Then on to the Supremes.

2012-02-07 01:32:31 PM
Oh, great.

I hope this stays illegal in Ohio. There's no way I can afford a wedding right now.

He didn't say "Republicans", he said "Social Conservatives." If you think a ban on gay marriage should be overturned, Republican or not, that does not sound like social conservativism.

It's almost like the spectrum of political beliefs is not binary...
