As far as businesses expanding into China go, I would look at Las Vegas Sands because they have a huge stake in Macao and (put on KKK outfit) boy do those chinese like to gamble (take off KKK outfit).

Seriously, ever been to an Indian casino in California? I felt like I was the only non-chinese person there.

Backwards Cornfield Races: Seriously, ever been to an Indian casino in California? I felt like I was the only non-chinese person there.

Here in WA, Chinese folks are bused in from Vancouver BC on shiny colorful Chinese buses. They migrate toward any of the local Injun casinos and shove their lemon chicken profits down the gullets of the one-armed bandits. When not losing quarter after quarter, they chain-smoke cigarettes and complain about not getting food and liquor comped. Around dinner-time, their small weekly profits frittered away, they head home on the bus, silent and humbled.

Until the following week...

Yum, which owns Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, reported a fourth-quarter profit and sales that came in just ahead of what analysts had forecast. Yum is seeing strong demand for its food chains in China, which is helping to counter sluggish U.S. growth.

This is not surprising in the least. I haven't seen a Taco Bell in China yet, but KFC and Pizza Hut are everywhere.

They are.

They're just bad at self control, at least the ones that throw their money away at the casinos.

Considering there were 3-4 new Taco Bells opened in areas i frequent (there are 2 in my town of about 24,000), it's not surprising.
Their food has gotten much better also IMO, although that may be due to me going to the newly opened stores.

I wonder if they're getting these increased profits by closing lower-grossing stores. The KFC near me closed and the building has been empty for months. At least three Taco Bells I know of have been replaced by some chain named MXN or just closed entirely.

Do they have American-style menus, or does the Colonel's secret recipe involve soy sauce and sesame seeds? Or is it a mix?

Soy sauce? More like KFC/Pizza Hut congee, spicy tofu chicken rice, wine, escargot, and post-circumcision parties. (new window)

/no tables or airplanes
