A company which is good at its job has multiple clients? OH NOES

2012-02-07 11:41:23 AM
So obviously this means that it was a secret Fartbongo ad. I mean, why would an ad company produce an ad for Obama and then produce an ad for a car company four years later? It's not like they just work for money.

2012-02-07 11:42:22 AM
Advertising companies who work for one client shouldn't be allowed to work for another.

Clint was also in movies with stinking liberals and also he knows Jane Fonda so there's that also and such as.

So?

Only the modern GOP would get their panties in a twist over the message "Americans stick together when times are tough" delivered by an iconic American actor, who is also a well-know Republican.

I love Clint Eastwood. I don't care if he's the libbiest liberal that ever libbed. He's Clint fricken Eastwood. Go ahead. Make his day punk.

Republicans: "We'd rather have thousands of people out of jobs, an entire industry destroyed, and all those profits going to foreigners than see a commercial where Clint Eastwood says it's a good thing that America can pull together when times are tough"

It's amazing that the GOP's message this election is "America is the worst place in the world, and that showing support for America and the American people is offensive and evil"

At first I did mistake it for a political ad for a second, but so?

keylock71: Only the modern GOP would get their panties in a twist over the message "Americans stick together when times are tough" delivered by an iconic American actor, who is also a well-know Republican.

He's an older type of republican.

That would make him a flaming, socialist, anti-American, pinko, libby lib by today's standards.

They would have much preferred GM putting out an ad saying that America is going down the tubes and it's all Obama's fault for not giving GM more money?

America is only "exceptional" when Republicans are president.

And profit is evil if it makes a Democrat look good.

I have to wonder, is the outrage more or less over this ad because it was Eastwood that did the voice over? The outrage itself is predictable, that was my first thought when watching it. They right has blown it's stack a lot less than I expected though. So maybe Eastwood is limiting that - they don't want to criticize him when they REALLY hate the message of 'America can be great again.'

I think it is because it is Eastwood that they are mad. He betrayed them. The message if political is okay...it is in support of a Dem. Fine. The other guy can have a cheerleader too. If it is simply that Detroit is recovering and we have good cars to sell again (even if the Chevy Volt will catch you on fire) then that is fine too. But the ad felt political and had a well known Republican in it.

Hell, if Clint Eastwood were in a Chevy Truck commercial that would be okay. It was an ad for the auto industry, not just one company too which made it look more like a cheerleader piece for Obama.

In short, I think it was the combination.

I did love the comments in the Super Bowl thread though. One said, "It made him enlist in the Army halfway through the commercial" another said she stripped naked and wrapped herself in the flag.

The only thing that commercial lacked was a crying eagle.

Y'know, halfway through, we were convinced it was a right-wing anti-Obama SuperPAC commercial, until we realize it was Chrysler.

Was it for Chrysler? I thought it was for the Detroit Auto Industry. I guess I didn't pay that close of attention to it. It didn't have a crying eagle did it?

Only the GOP can "Restore our Future" or "Win or Future", obviously...

2012-02-07 12:35:59 PM
I notice the vast majority of people getting bent out of shape about the commercial are taking great liberties with their wild imaginations. Man quoted the truth, and a bunch of truthers are taking exception. Of course these people are the salt of the earth.

People with imaginary friends.

It was a little over the top, but it really was a damn good ad. Hell, I haven't seen a bad Chrysler ad since the crash now. The whole 'imported from Detroit' campaign is really good. The only other ad series I've seen that I thought was really good in the last few years was the Air Force's Sci-Fi/Reality ads.

But yeah, it kind of was an indirect campaign ad.

That's what we thought too... but, all in all, I'm not seeing how the ad itself is an "endorsement of Obama" or even that "outrageous". Standard patriotic rhetoric that both Republicans and Democrats have used shamelessly in the past.

2012-02-07 12:38:32 PM
I suppose there's really nothing they can't go after anymore. I saw that ad the other night and it actually got me pretty inspired. Look what we did, America: we saved a city, thousands of its citizens have risen up from failure and are now working hard for a future that was once bleak. We're America, and like Detroit, we get hit but we keep getting up, fighting for what's right. We survive and keep fighting.

But listen to Republicans and you'd think we're all lazy, refuse to do anything for ourselves, undeserving of basic necessities like healthcare. We don't deserve help up when we fall. We should wallow in our failures instead of working together to create a better world.

*spits*

F*ck 'em. I don't think I can ever vote for another Republican as long as I live. Un-American assholes.

I hate those sci fi Air Force ads. I thought this was a good ad for Detroit. I only now realize it was for Chrysler. I do like the "imported from Detroit" tag line. But I own two Chrysler products so I'll tell you right now...this ad is not enough for me to buy more.

I'm looking at Ford next time.

Agreed. The way that party is going, they'll be the farking White Guys Christian Theocracy Party before it's all over. Seems like the only time it's permissible to talk positively about America is when they are in power. If anyone else is in power, then it's evil to talk about America being strong.

I think it offends their general world view - they must believe they are the country's only hope. If they don't, stick to that, then they'd have to look at their platform and realize just how far they've gone into the crazy.

Post Obama election - unity in bad times is bad.

Have I got it right?

So it should be obvious to everyone that Bush is pro gay marriage.
