I was reading the comments section below the article and found this gem.

I know I'm probably reading this incorrectly but it makes me happy to think that there's some contingent of people out there who thinks Obama is not Obama. When I read this it makes me think of an invasion of the body snatchers type scenario. Really, it's no crazier than the birther's beliefs.

Colbert made a comment (out of character) when asked about the show that comedy is all about making fun of the establishment and authority which goes against what 'conservatism' is all about. He would watch it if it was funny. But it wasn't. And it died a quick death.

Because they look at the resounding success of "The Half Hour News hour" and realize that they could never, ever re-create such a feat so why try?

Oh, boo hoo. The Onion doesn't satirize the president as much as the not-RIGHT-in-attic crowd thinks they should. Maybe this is because right-wingers don't tend to recognize satire. Hell, some of the commenters to that blog post think The Onion is a legit, but left wing news site. You just have to ignore people that stupid.
