It helps smaller retailers who can't compete with the Walmarts and Safeways on price alone.

You can say this is hurting the common consumer, but it really provides more venues from which he can buy his beer, in the long run.

Been illegal in NJ for awhile now, we have big liquor store chains but no liquor sales in walmarts and most super markets.

me thinks they improperly defined "loss leader". TTBOMK a retailer cannot sell below cost. they may just mark up the item a penny - obviously they are still losing money due to their handling & overhead expenses.
put the bread & milk in the far back corner and those in need of staples have to march past all the tasty pre-packaged convenience goodies with juicy profit margins.

Ohio has a law that beer can not be sold below the minimum markup.

As a beer consumer, I say I'm not going to make my beer buying decisions based on a $1.50 difference in price between retailers. The day I start counting pennies on useless purchases is the day I realize that I'm living beyond my means and I need to scale back.

The sky isn't falling. Beer prices are. And this guy's got a problem with that.

Whether or not it's because he's still gotta pay fifteen bucks for a sixer of his overly-hopped swill is where we start debating. But, hey, he liked bitter beer before bitter beer was cool. And, because it's on sale so cheap, ~~bastards~~ the 1%er-owned grocery store sold out of PBR. This is an outrage.
