"But after those trials, we all rallied around what was right, and acted as one. Because that's what we do. We find a way through tough times, and if we can't find a way, then we'll make one..."- Clint Eastwood

Yes, I can see why Rove is offended by these words, they stand against virtually every Republican value. Working together to solve problems during tough times, is an abomination to the Randian mindset of the Republican party.

I totally called this.

Oh yeah? Well, I'm offended by the fact that Karl Rove walks the farking planet.

Why, yes. Yes, you did. Admittedly, it was the odds-on call, though.

It was inspiring.
A union ad for the democrats paid for by the taxpayer.
cute.

A car company owned by Italians and the cars are made in Canada and Mexico.

Meh. That wasn't even anything. It was just a car commercial. I think Chrysler had a different gravel-voice do an ad for the last superbowl. And Eminem.

2012-02-06 10:03:39 PM
Yeah, a message of strength, inspiration and hope is totally a biased democratic-originated attack ad. That's rich.

People have wonderful things to say about the commercial - and Rove, who is stuck in his previous GWB campaign mode, hasn't caught up to reality yet. The reality is he is disparaging a commercial people love, and saying the GOP is against it. That's gonna fly real well. This is the kind of thing that actually wakes people up to the mindless propaganda that is Fox News.

0/10. Even my 2-year-old knows they're owned by Fiat. Hell, she probably knows they paid back their loans last year.

if the automakers wanted to spend money to "pay back" obama, couldn't they just anonymously funnel unlimited funds to a pro-obama super pac?

Cynical me, I just thought they were copying the formula of their successful ad campaign from last year - a celebrity talking over gritty footage about how Detroit had faced hard times but the people were tough and they were going to come back stronger. But I guess people who only view the world through politics will find a political message in anything. I saw a bunch of facebook comments about that ad cheering on the Republican party.

"It IS halftime in America - and if we don't change direction in 2012 we're doomed."

"Yes Clint, its halftime alright and we are about to make a QB change so that we might have a chace to win the fricking game! Go Republicans!"

"Mitt Romney will be our next President!"

That last one made me laugh because it ignores the fact that this could still be true even if Obama wins a second term.

I love the ego curve of truly successful men, like Rove, or Julius Caesar, who just can't keep it in check.

They begin with lean time, moving up level by level. Then they end up doing truly amazing things. Like the cutting edge campaign for HW Bush. Or leverging the 51% of the cultural conservatives to get George W. elected, twice as the figurehead he was.

Then you start to get the ego, and you can't remain on top forever. Eventually you have to step aside a little. The little people below you know more then you do and your mind isn't on top forever, specifically if you are not listening to the ground once in a while.

All that is left is to decend in the opposite direction, with ego quite possibly out of check.

/Are Bohner, Cantor, Norquist, ect going to stab Rove now?
//And this is how Rove created the cluster fark that is the Republican party under the activated tea party base.

2012-02-07 01:01:03 AM
The way that Republicans have been acting for the last three years is the way losers act when they're the hapless opposition of a history-making presidency that will be remembered warmly for decades.

You've apparently missed the last 6 or 7 years, when steely eyed conservatives became whining little biatches who complain about pretty much everything.
