Two of Hoekstra's GOP opponents, Clark Durant and Gary Glenn, issued statements questioning whether the current front-runner is the right candidate for Republicans to support.

I think that can be translated as "invest in a dog whistle"

opens with the sound of a gong and shows the Asian woman riding a bike on a narrow path lined by rice paddies

If you get past the blatant and ridiculous racism, it's kinda funny.

Well you can't go apologizing to the Chinese when your campaign is going to center on attacking them. He did the math and wrote off the Asian vote already.

He's going to have a press conference later this afternoon addressing the charges with, "Fark 'em, Asians aren't really people anyway, what do we care?"

Oh, wow, it sounds pretty much exactly like that ad from last year, with the chinese crowd all laughing at the failure of America in the future. The commercial so racist that I turned the TV off.

Asked about the woman in the ad, Hoekstra said that "her parents are 100 percent Chinese."

I saw that movie in the theater and was taking a draw off my soda when Joker proceeds to bust out his faux Kung Fu moves. I proceeded to laugh until said soda burst out my nostrils. That's my single most enduring memory of that film.

Have these guys ever stopped to consider the kind of government spending the Chinese do? It is totally massive in every measure compared to what we do. As a percentage of GDP and in absolute dollar terms. For example: everyone bleats like stuck hogs over Solyndra but the Chinese fund their solar industry 4-5x what we do.

So if the Chinese are winning in some way, shouldn't we do what they are doing? Massive government spending and funding of "private" enterprise. (There the government ends up being 51% owner of every major corporation but still the funding happens.)

So racism aside, what's the message here? Have they even thought it through?

FINALLY this hits Fark. All day I've been waiting...

Smackledorfer: It doesn't matter, people will eat that shiat up.

Pretty much this. MI GOP loves this sort of shiat. In an interview earlier Hoekstra and his team are CLEARLY very proud of themselves for the ad.

Racist and #1 with Racists.

Miso horny after watching that ad

I don't think they expected anyone to really realize that in order for this to be an actual criticism of Stabenow, you also have to say that the Chinese system works.

If you hate government funding, you shouldn't look to the Chinese as an example.

Headso: Not even from a PAC, he went on at the end and said "I approve this message" what a freakin rube.

Yeah, I had that same reaction. At some point, he looked at this ad, was not only impressed enough to put his name on it, but thought, "This is so goddamn brilliant that I'll come right out at the end and give it the ol' thumbs up in person."

That alone should be enough to tell you about his judgment.

She has a cute smile. And the ad was hilarious, if I didn't know it was real, I'd swear it had come from some comedy skit show.

I don't even know if they believe its racist. I've had fellow michiganders look me in the eye and say "back me in my day, we never saw people flaunting their interracial marriages in public. It just wasn't done". To which I've replied "you are 32 years old motherfarker, what the hell are you talking about". I don't think that person believes he is a racist.

Besides, its the farking GOP way to brag about paying businesses to operate in your state instead of anothers while demonizing hiring the same number of people for socialist infrastructure. fark these ignorant bastards, and before someone plays a bsrb card like all of us citizens are being flamboozled by our two-party system masters, remember that half the country not only votes for the republicans like this, who say these things and brag about them, but will also look you in the eye and tell you that these are their values.

Xenophobia combined with an absolute hatred of the government spending money at home, stacked on top of a near-complete unwillingness to use the government to influence the market to keep jobs here instead of use cheap foreign labor. Its headacheworthy, thats for sure.

As usual, Foreign Policy magazine is right on this (new window)

tl;dr = It's not racist IN china, because Chinese people are already racist. They determined this by looking at twitter and calling up someone in the US and someone in Europe. Not joking.

Also, the actress who starred in that vid should be ashamed. I think she should be punished. I can administer a harsh spanking, followed by... sorry can't see the screen my glasses are fogging up.

I admit, that was a funny ad, but it's OBVIOUSLY insulting. I can't believe nobody in that decision making process took a moment and thought 'hey, maybe we shouldn't make this' or 'hey, this is a little racist. Maybe we shouldn't air it.'
