Ah, gotta love propaganda. The use of "foreign" and "pagan" to describe your political rival is as old as civilization itself.

He's kinda cute. He can be my catamite.

First he's a radical black Christian, then a Sekret Muslim, now a Pagan. Obama's got more old time religion than a tent revival meeting.

Let me know when he joins the Aryan Nations or the Church of Jesus Christ Aryan. I want to have a fresh pair of panties to get in a bunch.

So, he's not down with Episcopalians?

I mean, I know that not everyone is down with the whole Protestant thing, but you'd think that since Baptists are part of that, and Obama has been a member of the United Church of Christ--you know, that terribly racist church that he was simultaneously a part of, whilst being a Muslimy-Muslim--that folks might at least get it right. He belongs to AMERICA HATING CHURCHES!

Seriously kids. His RACIST MINISTER! is a minister. Not an Imam. Get over it. He's been a Christian a long while folks. You know this, but still we get this weirdness, because y'all can't stay on message...

I'm pretty sure Mammon is now a naturalized US Citizen and worshiped by many Republicans (even though they call him by his nickname, Jesus [not to be confused with the Jesus who lived 2000 years ago in Judea who had those leftist style hippie beliefs). Would that count?

Exploiting faith for political advantage?

Sounds like chapter one from the GOP playbook.

And this Obama the guy is talking about is a fiction. They have to create a fiction to oppose because the real Obama just isn't that liberal and radical.

Why would a brazen ultra-right wing media-wonk want to demonize his political opposition as being under foreign control and ill-suited to represent his own people?

the ONLY people that Christ beat the snot out of was a bunch of bankers. so I think Obama is essentially correct in his interpretation of Christ's comments - taxing the rich in order to help the poor IS a 'Christian duty'.

y'know, I just don't get it. Obama is right - there IS a scriptural basis for taxing the rich. Christ was pretty clear on the whole 'material wealth is corruptive' thing.

I think the Republicans were expecting Obama to be in far worse shape than he is right now. so they're getting a bit behind schedule. they have to ramp up the rhetoric and knock him down now, put him on the defensive, so that they can come out of the GOP primary race looking strong.

The thing is, while this type of rhetoric will make the teabaggers chuckle, it will completely drive off the centrist voters the GOP so desperately needs.

The GOP used to be masters of electioneering. Now they seem to be doing everything they can to reelect Obama.

I think the GOP seriously believes that the Tea Party is the majority. Remember, this is a party who put a completely unqualified person on the VP ticket because they thought the lunatics at hillaryis44 were real. To them, the centrists & independents are just quiet Teabaggers, all wanting the same thing. They can't conceive of a registered Republican jumping ship because the party's gone batshiat insane.

Lionel Mandrake: The GOP used to be masters of electioneering. Now they seem to be doing everything they can to reelect Obama.

It seems to me that the GOP leadership sees the depths of the DERP as being limitless. They are like Cook's crew sailing north along the American west coast, seeing mile upon mile of untouched forest and thinking to themselves that there was no limit to the resources. "Why, there no END TO IT!" they'd exclaim.

It seems to me the GOP and FOX News see no limit to how baseless, ignorant and stupid their comments can be regarding their political opponents. It's a DERP gold rush.

I can think of several domestic gods:

- Inuit gods (Akna, Anguta, etc.)
- North American native gods (Breathmaker, Kachinas, Raven, etc.)
- the Scientology god (which, I think, is different from Xenu but not sure)
- the Mormon god
- money

Interesting factoid: The number of followers of these gods is inverse to the sequence that I listed them in.

American Druids have local nature spirits as well as ancestor veneration. American Hindus often given localized names to installed Hindu deities like Shiva, like this temple in Lansing Michigan (new window). And there is a distinctly American character to Mormonism, although Heavenly Father is by no means localized to the U.S.A. Amerindians have lots of different deities--some like the Navajo have a cosmic couple.

To be fair, you might want to look a little further for domestic spirits.
