Just came hear to say that I wish he had done more movies in the last 10 years. Heck, can't someone at HBO dream up a series for him?

That's pretty awesome of Patrick Stewart. It almost makes up for his presence in X3: The Last Stand.

Hey now, that wasn't his fault. That movie sucked in general, but that had more to do with the writing and directing.

Also, good on Patrick Stewart.

I suppose he could have been roped into a 3-picture-contract from the start. That psycho-kinetic energy line came across as a plea to the audience for mercy.

Still not the actor's fault if the writing is bad.

The "plea for mercy" comment was less about the content of the line and more about the delivery.

/you did see where I said I was just kidding him about X3, right?
//the RiffTrax for it is great

Well, I'm not a TFette, but when he was Trekin', I definitely would have licked his dome.

Now, not so much. Age gets the best of us all, and he's crossed over that line for me.

Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives, but I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment because they'll never come again.

Also, erotic cakes.

If the Donkey sanctuary wants money, let them put on a show for it!

Obligatory YouTube link is obligatory. (new window)

That episode really knocked home for my seven year old self how goddamn talented Patrick Stewart was as an actor.

/Holy shiat, it's been almost 20 years since Chain of Command aired? Jebas, I feel old.
//Think I might stream that episode tonight... hooray Netflix.

This. Aside from the occasional spanking I grew up in a non-violent home, but I know people who weren't so fortunate as I was. Women's refuges are vital social services that save lives. Well done, Sir Patrick.

It also had Ellen Page, and I have such a geekboy crush on her.

I remember the first time I ate a live taspar. I was six years old and living on the streets of Lakat. There was a band of children, four, five... six years old - some even smaller, desperately trying to survive. We were thin, scrawny little animals, constantly hungry, always cold. We slept together in doorways, like packs of wild gettles, for warmth. Once I found a nest. Taspars had mated and built a nest in the eave of a burned-out building. And I found three eggs in it. It was like finding treasure. I cracked one open on the spot and ate it, very much as you just did. I planned to save the other two. They would keep me alive for another week. But of course, an older boy saw them and wanted them. And he got them. But he had to break my arm to do it.

if the men are so unhappy with their little families why don't they go on to greener pastures

women I get,

one and done, they become used cars

do the men act out against those they purportedly love because....why?

why not move the fuk along?

Four lights was the easy road here. You took the more difficult path. +1, sir.

Every once in a while Trek threw you an episode where the actors got to exercise their chops, or overall just had a good story that was more than simply reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. Watching "The Bonding," the other night was one example. Horrible, wooden child actor, but the storyline (Starfleet officer killed unexpectedly on an away mission, orphaning her son who lives on the ship) was a good one. Good Worf moments, good Troi moments (which if you follow the series were few and far between - we see her actually counseling vs. "Captain, I sense extreme displeasure"), and we get to see Whea-TON get a chance to emote instead of just driving the ship. It's an episode about death and coming to grips with loss that touch on relevant, modern-day issues.

Chain of Command was similar. Futuristic, yes, but torture remains the same regardless of the century. also The Inner Light, DS9's "Pale Moonlight," and others.
