(YouTube)   The guy in the toga bouncing up and down on the not-so-tightrope in front of Madonna last night? Turns out he's kinda insane and does things with ropes that even your mom won't do   (youtube.com ) divider line

I'm pretty sure park rangers would frown upon a lot of that stuff.

Dude has an insane amount of body awareness.

But he will end up a greasy spot.

After seeing him bounce on some of those lines, I just have one question. Did the dude have a penisectomy?

I was thinking he had a steel cup on.

American Heritage Dictionary:
death wish
Home > Library > Literature & Language > Dictionary

n.

Psychiatry.
A desire for self-destruction, often accompanied by feelings of depression, hopelessness, and self-reproach.
The desire, often unconscious, for the death of another person, such as a parent, toward whom one has unconscious hostility.
A suicidal urge thought to drive certain people to put themselves consistently into dangerous situations.

Yeah....that pretty much sums up the video for me.

From the video, it looks like he did some swinging on Rainbow Bridge, which would not only get the Park Service pissed, but also the Navajo Nation, which considers the arch to be a sacred site. I know Arches National Park has restrictions on climbing any formation named on the USGS 7.5min topo map, but the restrictions vary from park to park. He was also atop Fisher Towers, near Moab, which is under the management of the BLM, but they allow climbing there (the recent commercial for Visa, where the girl buys shoes and a belt and then goes climbing, was shot in the same area).

If he's that good, how come his "slackline" performance was done on a ribbon? Madonna grabbed it at one point after he was finished and you could see it was several inches wide when viewed from above..

It's a metaphor for a kind bridge that can't be swung on.

This interview with Jeb Corliss really confirms what people think of these extreme adreline junkies. If nothing else it's worth watching to see what happens when 'wing-suit' flying goes wrong.

No matter how good you are, one powerful gust of wind as you cross that canyon and you're done. As others said, matter of time.

Given that 2" & 3" is fairly common in urbanlining and that he was performing on national TV and didn't want to screw up, maybe he went with the bigger line to reduce his chances of missing a landing.
/Not a slackliner. Maybe I'm wrong.
//But I'm sure you could have done it better, they probably called you but you were too busy to perform, right? :P

But of course. however, "useless without vid" is gonna have to be acceptable. I don't take video's of my illegal activities so that I can attention whore.

/i was being snarky. i'm not any less impressed by his talent for walking ropes.

He'll fall someday, and to that I say: good. There are some terrible ways to go; dying fast doing what you love is an enviable death. Keep going crazy guy.

Good words. I like how farkers are pointing out that it's only a matter of time for this guy like they have the secret to eternal life

But I do have the secret to eternal life... it involves a body-condom of bubble wrap and duct tape.

I tried slacklining once for an afternoon. Not in a crazy jumping-around way like he was doing, just tried to stand on it and/or take a couple steps. That shiat is tough.

I'm a lib, and I still find this guy is the best argument against universal health care.

I don't want to be paying a nurse to wipe his ass for the next 50 years after he makes himself paraplegic.
