It's my opinion that those who idolize Ronald Reagan, to the extent of "name something in every county after him" and "put his face on Mt. Rushmore" and "he belongs on the tenner" should be forced to watch Bedtime for Bonzo.

Not because I particularly disagree with his policies - I was a moderate Republican before my priorities changed - but because this boot-licking adulation has me very, very nervous. I'm not trying to embarrass the guy. But watching him get pwned by a chimpanzee in a movie made while he was still not just a Democrat but a union leader (and still on his first marriage) would go a long way towards dismantling this marble statue that modern Republicans have erected because they have so few sane leaders today.

There were things to admire about him, I concede, but these people have thrown away the original and erected a cheap cardboard cutout version to worship. I admire the guy who held his nose and raised taxes six times during his administration a lot more than the guy that flew over to East Germany and tore down the Berlin wall with his bare hands just before hopping on a horse and single-handedly crushing the Soviet Union without any help from other countries, the policies of past presidents, or the communist country's own internal strife.
