Sorry, I had all caps on. I just get so excited whenever the big thrree (ninjas, zombies or steampunk pirates) get mentioned. A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite literature. UMAD?

I always wondered why he chased after Barbara instead of eating Johnny who was right there on the ground unconscious. He turns up later, zombified and uneaten, still wearing his snazzy driving gloves and everything.

Not many people know that Bill Hinzman also was in "Beetlejuice". Tim Burton picked him as the what happened to the soul of the guy who's body later became a zombie (naturally, he became a janitor).

It could simply be that the zombie was attracted to movement. Had Barbra not been moving, and thus presented an attractive target, he might have concentrated on Johnny. I've seen that behavior in frogs, when presented with more than one insect to eat: they'll sort of stare at the one that moved and then stopped, until their attention is grabbed by the other insect moving.

This is almost as sad as when everyone that made the movie EXCEPT George Romero made the 30th anniversary edition. That was the most god-awful peice of crap I've ever seen.
"Hinzman is 30 years older than he was when we filmed this. No one will notice!"
"Everyone liked the score George spliced together from the stock music library. Let's change it to poorly written synthesizer music that doesn't react to the film."
"For a low-budget movie, the acting is really good. Let's add a horrible actor to play an unecessary preacher character."
Ugh. I burned my copy.

Nice to see some love for Kelly's Heroes, an underappreciated gem of a movie. A poor man's "Catch-22" - all the anti-authoritarianism without the needly literary foolishness.

NotLD was my first horror movie. I was 10 and watched it on "Shock Theater' at midnight.
I had to sleep with the lights on for 3 weeks, was always afraid that there'd be a zombie behind every door, and still have occasional nightmare's 30 years later.
/Good movie

Saw it at age 7 when we got our first VCR. My brother slipped NOTLD in the pile of movies my dad got. I had nightmares in black and white for a week, but I've never been scared by a movie since (except a year or two later when I saw Dawn of the Dead).

Builds character. I was dragged to horror movies at a young age. I really don't get the "Think of the children!" crying about horror movies and kids.

I don't think they ever said the word Zombie in the film. It was always ghoul. Right?

I believe you are correct.
"Thing/things" seemed to be the most common term used to describe the reanimated corpse in NOTLD. IIRC, "monsters" was used a couple of times too, but I don't recall 'zombie/zombies" being used at all.

Technically, they're not. However, people tend to use "zombie" as a catchall term for any type of reanimated corpse that eats people.

I first watched NOTLD at 12:30 AM on PBS, lights out, alone in the living room. I was 9 years old. Halfway through, the sound woke up my dad. He walks in, sees what I'm watching, laughs and tells me to enjoy the rest of the movie. Later, he'd introduce me to "Dawn" and "Day." I have fond memories of watching horror movies with my dad, loving the suspense and special effects, and laughing at the crazy gore. Now I terrorize my wife with the same films.

Not at all in NOTLD. Only once in Dawn of the Dead.
