Rick Romero reports that famous rockers were in other bands before they got famous.

Studies have shown that it's impossible not to sing along with that song.

Every 70's rocker has their Spinal Tap "Listen to the Flower People" moment. I think it's awesome.

More Bon Scott early awkwardness - Early 70's prog outfit - Fraternity (new window)

In the Godfather it was mentioned a couple of times that sometimes people take time to find their destiny, or become who they were meant to be. Once was when the 'hostages' were discussed. The crazy family who's job it was to play hostage who had a member who became a lawyer and was disgraced, until he did murder and found his true self. Same with Al Neri, the former cop who became Michael's bodyguard. Don Corleone never frowned on these people for the choices they made before finding this.

I'm going to give Bon a pass on this, and that prog-rock outfit posted above. When he did arrive at the place he needed to be, he freaking killed it on nearly every song on every album he did with ACDC. The man can be excused from anything on the strength of that.

What are you people complaining about? It's a pleasant, lighthearted song and he nailed it.

Being metal doesn't mean you have to be a joyless angry coont.

It's a long way to the top, if you want to rock and roll.

dfacto: What are you people complaining about?

I think most people see Scott as a Rock&Roll badass and see this as kinda funny. I know I do. I mean it's harmless, and everyone comes from somewhere, but that cracked me up.

How about Ronnie James Dio's early band Ronnie Dio and the Prophets. (new window)
You would have never guessed Dio would go on to be one of the Kings of Metal.

Aside from an artist finding their niche, a lot of times you get a young, freshly signed artist with stars in their eyes and they get leaned on by their new record label to mimic the flavor of the week that's selling at that moment because it's easy to market and sell and make money off of. You get some impressionable kid who's never been in a studio before, and they get assigned to some veteran producer who's been given orders by the label to pump out a sellable, homogenized product.

Early this morning I was remembering this video earlier and thinking I should look it up again. Lead singer looks like Richard Kiel.
