Internet freedom may be the one good thing about the Tea Party.

/too bad the racism and the other stuff drowns it out.

In the meantime, the Democrats will get an absolute pass on their support of SOPA and the "internet" will not mobilize against a single one of them.

In other words: We see what we think is a vulnerable Republican so let's pretend we're going after him for some other reason than because he's a Republican.

While it's nice to see the GOP attempting to force the goons out, replacing an anti-internet, anti-abortion, anti-poor people, anti-healthcare, anti-lots-more guy with a pro-internet, anti-abortion, anti-poor people... guy -

Is it really a step up?

// I guess, to the GOP, it would be
// wait - is this gonna shake out like the O'Donnell/Angle/[Alaskan chucklefark with a beard] races?
// if so, nominate away

We need to get rid of this guy to send a clear message. If you try to control the internet you will lose your job.

Baby steps. There is a large chunk of this country who gladly vote against all their self interests.

From the article, I get the impression Lamar Smith just isn't conversative enough to wear the -R- badge.

Keep up the good work, republicans. Cleaning house of liberals like Smith is God's work.

The person who wrote TFA practically has a GOP arm rammed up his ass and operating his mouth like a puppet. The people who commented on the blog post are quintessentially republican. The primary challenger, as described, probably has republican Jesus tattooed on his bicep.

And yet, somehow, Republicans going after their own is somehow the Democrat's, fault. Got it.

Isn't this about a primary challenger? Unless you're asserting that the challenger is a liberal plant, of course...

Repubicanism 101. All actions from conservatives are the liberals' fault.

Good. Throw the corrupt bastard out. The authors, introduceers and sponsors should always be the first to go.

When do we get to the rest of them?

And when do we go after the
Senators that introduced the Senate version, PIPA (new window)?
Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT)

Or do we turn a blind eye to 'D' hypocrisy and corruption as usual?

What a great 'article' in a great 'blog'. I'd love to read more. I like how all the reasons this idiot needs to go were listed, including voting to raise minimum wage (the horror, the horror) but at the very end, he doesn't need to go because of the listed reasons, he's going because he happened to be a douche at a time when people were paying attention to douches. Is there anything republicans can't spin to be everyone's fault but their own?

I don't get why you're so upset. His primary challenger is actually further right than he is. I mean, you're usually just a partisan hack, always toeing the Republican line. But in this case, you're just trollin the thread because you know you'll get bites.

I would wish you good luck but given the subject matter, you won't need luck, it'll be easy.

So..crazy Tea Party supporting, anti-gun control guy is a better option because he opposes SOPA? It is clear SOPA is not going to pass, and most likely never brought back up as a bill anytime soon. Maybe all of the supporters should get a pass if it is going to lead to even more unstable people taking their place.

SOPA really isn't a Left/Right issue.

It is really an Authoritarian/Libertarian issue. Which is why Pelosi is against it, but her counterpart in the Senate - Reid, was for it.

This. I would not want to replace a SOPA supporter with a nutbar teabagger just over SOPA.

Besides, my guess would be that his opposition to SOPA isn't based on rational reasons, like it would harm the Internet industry: it's probably more along the lines of "George Soros and ACORN will be able to block sites critical of Fartbama." Often, when you hear what sounds like a reasonable opinion coming out of the Tea Party, you look under the surface and find it's total derp at heart.

Hint: This was about censorship, not piracy.
