No one will take this away from the Black Eyed Peas. No one.

This one is going to be in the running.

The nipple slip wasn't that big of a deal. Let it go.

I did not see the Madonna halftime show, but judging from my Facebook feed, it was either one of the greatest halftimes in history or an embarrassing lip-synching fiasco.

I'll just use my imagination.

2012-02-05 09:55:53 PM
I didn't think it was that bad, considering.

2012-02-05 09:59:22 PM
What is all of them are awful?

2012-02-05 09:59:54 PM
I thought it did not suck.

2012-02-05 10:02:09 PM
Why would anyone want to watch bad commercials?

2012-02-05 10:02:46 PM
She moves like a 50 year old woman who has worked out too hard for too many years.

2012-02-05 10:06:16 PM
My God, I had forgotten how awful Up With People used to be. Are they still operating?

Ho. Lee. shiat. They are. Yikes.

MTV should have resurrected the Beavis and Butthead halftime show.

It was pretty good. She was definitely going for broad appeal (nothing controversial, unless you count M.I.A.'s antics). She lip-synced about half of it, sang the other half. Did some hand stands, almost fell off a bench at one point. Had Richard Simmons on a high wire, bonus gospel chorus and marching band.

fearthebunnyman: Had Richard Simmons on a high wire

Yeah, I think the "Richard Simmons Halftime Spectacular Brought to You By Deal a Meal" might be worse than the Black Eyed Peas

/not really

Tonights is sure as f**k in the running for one of the worst ever.

I think the best was Prince. He can really wail on a guitar.

2012-02-05 10:27:58 PM
Why can't we have a best of SB 1/2 time shows? With Prince being number 1.
/he subtlety threw in a 3foot phallic image, and no one caught it
//well they did, but they just couldn't fig out how to react. very clever

The worst was the Pac-man/Ms. Pac-Man wedding.

I can't help but notice that Madonna is keeping her arms covered in her performances and videos now.

I wonder why...

2012-02-05 10:32:45 PM
They need to get someone good, like King Diamond or Municipal Waste. Not worth watching otherwise.

And change the name from Superbowl to Superball

2012-02-05 10:35:32 PM
I actually liked this years - Madonna wasn't turrible and looked pretty decent for an old broad.

2012-02-05 10:36:49 PM
Can we all at least admit that getting a big name for the halftime is just a ploy to keep the casual viewer glued to the tv?

Halftime is kitchen time. I don't give a flying fark who's out there on the 50 yard line.

With your Fark handle you must've loved the Clint Eastwood/Chrysler ad.

It's half time in America. By that logic, in another 235 years, America will be over.

2012-02-05 10:46:32 PM
My expectations for Madonna were so low, I'm happy to admit she exceeded them and did better than I suspected she would.

2012-02-05 10:49:10 PM
Madonna did well. She's a master at performing. Good to hear some older tunes.
Other than the gay Spartans I liked it.
Next year prediction......Nickelback.

to reduce drag? Exactly what about that show is supposed to make me think championship football game?

Well the Black Eyed Peas did the CFL's Grey Cup in 2005 before the Superbowl last year (both sucked). Using that metric you are safe until 2016.

Gay Spartans were the best part of that halftime show. That and M.I.A. showing how "edgy" she can be.

I was looking for a spectacle and Madonna delivered. Not a big fan of her kind of music, but I enjoyed the show except for the newer song she played in the middle to help sell shiat.

Fark no - I only drive German. I only like watching those ads for the same reason I watch Grimm & Portlandia. For the "hey, I know that place" feeling.

/S4 and my wife hates driving a stick so it's all mine

110 million people don't deserve that.

I thought she would actually sing. But that didn't happen either.

It was a good few minutes to get up and take a piss, that's for certain.

Holy crap, that Elvis impersonator/magic trick is awful.

2012-02-05 11:21:42 PM
I was never a big Prince fan but his halftime show was incredible IMHO.

I personally enjoyed Madonna's lip-syncing. What a performer.

OregonVet: I was never a big Prince fan but his halftime show was incredible IMHO.

IIRC, wasn't the pregame show this utter celebration of purity and America (NTTAWWT) in overreaction to the Janet Jackson thing? And then Prince comes out with a 30 foot penis at halftime, and singlehandedly hands America their balls back?

/If I'm remembering that right, that needs to go down in "Greatest Halftime Shows EVER" just due to the subtext.
//Also, I was too busy to watch the Super Bowl. Were there any fantastic car commercials like the Eminem Chrysler one from the last time I watched the Super Bowl?

2012-02-05 11:31:02 PM
I missed most of it getting food and watching some of the puppy bowl, sounds like I did not miss much.

2012-02-05 11:32:33 PM
I don't care for Madonna but that was an awesome halftime show.

2012-02-05 11:34:33 PM
Fark, do you like... halftime shows with gladiators?

2012-02-05 11:35:23 PM
Personally, I wish they just brought Kelly Clarkson back out. Nicer to look at and she would actually sing...

2012-02-05 11:35:45 PM
Madonna came out like the entrance of Xerxes in the movie "500". But for someone over 50, she did all right. I think Cee-Lo Green must be afraid of heights, tho.

2012-02-05 11:38:12 PM
Up With People isn't just a horrible Super Bowl halftime, it's probably one of the worst "artistic" endeavors in human history, right up there with Thomas Kinkaide paintings and Kirk Cameron.

Mildot: Personally, I wish they just brought Kelly Clarkson back out. Nicer to look at and she would actually sing...

Anyone else notice Kelly Clarkson has somehow lost "half a Clarkson" in the past few months? I thought she looked fantastic compared to her Purple People Eater performance on SNL last year.

2012-02-05 11:47:31 PM
I thought Madonna did pretty well, but I also saw the previous few years so my expectations weren't that high. At least she looked like she enjoyed being there and wasn't just phoning it in. During "Like a Prayer" I was fully expecting her and the entire chorus to pull off their robes and get down in their skivvies.

Since a few have brought up the commercials I can say this without threadjacking... I'll give them two thumbs meh. Nothing that seemed especially innovative or that jumped out, especially when they're "leaked" beforehand. I question the wisdom of GM dropping so much on SB ads when their bailout is still pretty fresh in people's minds. Chrysler did it too, but at least theirs was a subtle "thanks for having our backs, we'll earn your support" angle. That said, I was disappointed to see Clint shilling for them.
