It really annoys me, too. I don't use Facebook much, so when I do get on (usually to look up a friend's e-mail, or something like that) they send me e-mails about "Welcome Back!" and "Here's what's been going on!"

But they never do.

I can't really fault them for that. MMO's are the same basic concept, though more expensive to make. Diablo II was addictive as hell, and III wont be much different. Now that they've added XP and levels to FPS games they're going down a similar route. Age of Empires 3 did it years ago, though I would argue with limited success(even though I loved the shiat out of the game).

I'd guess part of the problem is most of us have short attention spans, so it's the best way for game companies to adjust to us.

Hey, Subby , just do what I do and have email alerts set up in the event of a greenlight. As far as Facebook goes my life would probably be a lot better without it. People take it way way way too seriously, and I don't take it the least bit seriously. I went a few weeks or so without getting on, and I kept getting emails about notifications. Apparently Facebook really didn't want me to miss people sharing too much info, being passive-aggressive, typing like a mentally challenged inner city kid, and posting bullshiat links to stuff that's neither funny nor interesting. Facebook worried itself a lot over it.

I also used to play games on Facebook, but this is one case where my Video Game ADHD (getting easily distracted from games, the ability to walk away from a game I religiously played up until that point, losing interest out of nowhere) comes in handy. I did kick all kinds of conceivable ass in Bejeweled Blitz. Playing that shiat on Adderall was nuts.

So addicting? Facebook? Hahahhahahahhha, sure, go with that.

You can get addicted to anything you enjoy, except pot because this is fark.

THIS. All the social media sites are good tools for communication. It's all about how you choose to use the tools. Just because everyone else is posting about their bowel movements doesn't mean you have to.
