It's a husky. It's clearly saving the cat to eat later.

I liked the snoring dormouse on the same page. Too cute! I also had no idea that hibernating animals snored.

Not quite history-making, has happened before elsewhere & -when. "Adoptive" cross-species parent hasn't always been female, either. Awwwww.....

That is soooo cute! I've never seen a real dormouse, just the mad hatter cartoon version, which I always thought was a little creepy. Or maybe it was just the way they treated it.

Somehow the comments in the article turned into an abortion thread, someone go poke at them.

PsiChi: /Something completely different: Is akvavit dill-flavored?

Depends on which one you buy. It gets its flavor from a variety of herbs and spices but the dominant flavors are usually either dill or caraway. I usually drink a caraway dominant variety of Linie. I did find a cardamom dominant Linie akvavit on my last trip to Kristiansand, but can't find it here in the US. The term "Linie" means "line" and indicates it's been across the equator on a ship, which is supposed to make the akvavit smoother.

Thanks for the info. Not a big caraway fan, but love dill. My daughter has always been in love with Norway, since she was a little girl. Maybe she'll send me some dill-flavored akavit if she ever goes there. (:

A kitten video on YouTube is news? Really?

Somebody got paid to search YouTube for kitty videos and write that "article". WTF. Must be nice.

All of Alice in Wonderland is about the adult characters being irrational assholes, never explaining anything, threatening to cut off Alice's head, and subjecting her to annoying riddles and poems. It's supposed to be this wonderful children's story, but I hated it as a child and hate it even more as an adult.

One of my parents' cats slept in my bed every night. He would crawl under the covers and lay with his back to my legs and do that "paw thing" to my hands. I could hear him snoring through the sheets. I moved out a few years ago; he barely remembers me now. He will actually hiss if I try to do any of the things we used to enjoy together. I've never felt so hurt as to think that my departure caused an innocent animal so much pain. Maybe I'm overreacting, but the two of us lost something special when I got my own place.

Cats just have short memories. I went away on a trip for three months, leaving my two cats in the care of my parents. When I came back, they treated me like a total stranger, hissing and everything. Took about three days for them to finally start remembering who I was and things eventually got back to normal.

What I hate is when you take one cat to the vet and when you get back home with it, the other cat you have goes completely bonkers because the first cat "smells" wrong or something like that. And then they get bitey and hiss at each other for days or even weeks afterward. Cats are weird.

I think the cat in the video clip is a Ragdoll, not a straight up Siamese. Ragdolls are cute, but the ones I've seen were very prone to respiratory infections and cat herpes...

That might make it easier to bear, but his sister also died after I moved out. He was pretty much the "alpha" in that relationship, but my parents have told me that after losing her and me, he yowls a lot and paces around the house as if he were searching for something. Short-term memory doesn't explain everything. I think even simple creatures can be imprinted with long-term needs.

My thoughts exactly. This wasn't so much a rescue as it was a taunt.
