Plane crashes into Kalispell house

KALISPELL - A pilot and two passengers were flying in a small plane, just south of Kalispell when the plane lost control and crashed into a home on Rubby Duck Road.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon, just after 1:30 p.m.

Our reporter spoke with several residents in the neighborhood who watched the plane go down.

They tell us they saw the plane weave between trees and houses and they say it looked as if the pilot was trying to land on the road.

The plane crashed into a house.

After the crash, several of the eyewitnesses rushed to the plane and pulled pieces of the plane from the body of the aircraft to help the pilot and passengers who were trapped inside.

A female passenger and two dogs were safely pulled out from the plane.

The pilot and the other passenger exited the plane from inside the house, in which the plane crashed.

Eyewitnesses say they were taken to the hospital and the homeowner was inside the house during the time of the crash.

We will have more information on this breaking news story, as soon as it becomes available.

So, am I to understand the plane hit a house? It's not quite clear in the article.

The GA fleet is starting to show it's age.

That plane was 35 years old. Planes ain't cars, but still. A mechanic told me once that crap breaks sometimes just because it's old.

There's no way that was an airplane - where is the scar from the wings on that house? This was a missile.

Rubby Ducky, I'm awefully fond of you.

I seriously hope I never have an engine out with other souls on board, and if I do, that I can land the airplane safely. I'm glad nobody was hurt or killed, but it looks like more dumb luck in this case than anything else.

Seems this happened in a castle doctrine state. So, would the home owner get in trouble for killing the people crash landing on his property? How about killing the ones walking through his house? They did break in, after all.

A witness said they were swerving between houses and trees trying to make it to the road, I wouldn't be surprised if the pilot banked too hard, stalled one wing and entered a bit of a spin.

Roads are bad places to land, too many things to clip your wings on. Mind you, houses aren't that much better.

2012-02-05 09:21:33 PM
The plane had control the entire time. The pilot on the other hand... maybe not.

I'd give this one a 6.

There is an Easy Street in my hometown. It's a dead end road in the trailer park. That's gotta be intentional.

Just like those bastards that name the streets in THE SAME subdivision things like OakLawn, OakTree, TreeLawn, LawnTree, ElmWood, OakWood, TreeWood...

I pride myself on being reasonably open to 'freedom of expression', but when it comes to street names, I think a rigidly enforced grid-system is the only way. If I had my way, my address would read like a firing-solution in Battleship.
