Today it is exhibited near the visitor center and museum at Grand Gulf Military Monument as a unique reminder of the colorful history of Mississippi. timeless futility of trying to get between buyers and sellers.

Probably a snorkel.

From the looks of it though, I'd guess it was less a submarine and more of a surface vessel that ran with its hull completely awash. It doesn't seem to have a lot of the usual submarine features (dive planes, ballast systems).

Looks like they're missing a hatch cover or something.

It could be a wet sub, but that doesn't seem very likely. They didn't have SCUBA in the 30s and it would be almost impossible to navigate in a wet sub at night given the tech of the day. Plus they'd have to seal up the engine somehow.

It looks pretty much like a powered canoe that rode very low in the water.

Snorkel, same way the U-boats did.

Its a good thing they never ended prohibition, or society would have been destroyed...

Black markets, smuggling, and violence?

Over alcohol?

Weird.

How ever did they finally get everyone to agree stop drinking and live their lives as their told and give up on any concept of freedom?

I guess kicking down peoples doors, taking all their possessions, and imprisoning them really saves them from themselves.

Okay, why the hell is it being stored outside, especially in Mississippi? If they have any plans whatsoever of conserving (the only farking one that survived) they should store it in a controlled environment.

reminds me of the 50's-60's tv cop dramas with the plot about a cigar sized box of heroin. the criminals are killing civilians and making a half dozen safe drops to try to fool the super smart and persistent cops who are trying to prevent that cigar box worth of drugs from destroying a mid size american town just like the one you live in.
dragnet
highway patrol
adam 12 etc
