Wouldn't you like to see a positive drug story on the news
? To base your decision on information rather than scare tactics and superstition? Perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting? Just for once?
"Today, a young man on mushrooms realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration - that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

What types are growing right now?
Most of the oysters are going to be left over from fall and a bit old. Morels are not coming up for a month and a half at the earliest. Puffballs are not up yet.
It's the beginning of february.

Right now I believe it's Black Trumpets (aka Black Chanterelle/Winter Chanterelle) and Hedgehog Mushrooms.

Reminds of of some phenomena up in the mountains where I used to live.
Sometime in the late 1950s, this big Korean family came up the side of the hill (mountain) to pick ferns which was a big time delicacy back where they came from. Several generations of the family came up, including their great grandmother who was dressed in her Sunday finest. Well, they spent the entire day picking ferns. This was the first time Koreans had picked ferns up there and they had hit the motherlode. At the end of the day, they stuffed bushels of ferns into their cars and got in and went home.
A couple days later, they realized they forgot grandma.
There were search parties day and night for a week. They never found anything. Then it snowed for a real long time and there was no chance that a fragile little old lady could survive on her own.
The following year, more Korean fern pickers showed up and some of them reporting seeing a little old Asian lady in the woods out of the corner of their eye and they were afraid for no good reason. Then people started going missing for no good reason. And that's why the locals don't go fern picking.

You know, this weekend I went to a hippy new-age commune and met a teen who would prattle on and on and on about DMT and shrooms and LSD and claimed he once did 17 hits of acid at once. The guy was arrogant, condescending to anyone who didn't belong to his avenue of alternative culture, and dumb as a box of hair.
That's not to say that psychedelics don't have it's place and can lead to great personal growths, it's just that one thing that I think Bill Hicks, Terrance McKenna Timothy Leary & their ilk misses is that when you throw a drug into a dip shiat, and he won't stop being a dip shiat. "Enlightenment" only happens to those who have that creative spark in them in the first place, which is soooooooooo not everyone.

I'm pretty sure Bill Hicks at least would agree with you.
"They always have the same LSD story. You've all seen it: "Today a young man on acid ... thought he could fly ... jumped out of a building ... what a tragedy!" What a dick. He's an idiot. If he thought he could fly, why didn't he take off from the ground first? Check it out? You don't see geese lined up to catch elevators to fly south; they fly from the farking ground. He's an idiot. He's dead. Good! We lost a moron? farking celebrate. There's one less moron in the world."

Wow, there granted I'm not sure what Bill Hicks, And Terrance McKenna thought but the good Dr. Leaery said before a congressional committee that to use weed one should have the equivalent of a drivers license and to use LSD or mushrooms one should have the equivalent of a pilot's license.

Happens allot in California, so much so that they don't even report it on the news anymore.
Not getting killed but hikers being shot at to get away.
