I don't remember coming home last night, but apparently I was in bed before 11. Therefore I am awake for the game and even though I missed the RvP goal, I saw the Bburn goal, which was awesome. No Spurs or United games today so come on Everton!

Will tune into France/Italy once the Arsenal game is finished, then will be watching Scotland/England later

\Scotland, you know I like ya, but you're my pick for the wooden spoon this year

First up is France vs Italy at the Stade de France. With the first game Italy could spring a supprise against a sleepy France but i wouldn't bet much money on it.

Then its Scotland vs England at Murryfeild. The Scots always but up a lot of fight against England and with the large amoutn of younf players in the new look England side its going to be the best chance Scotland get to beat England.

Tomorrow is Ireland vs Wales.

I'd love to see the French back up their performance in the World Cup by taking this out. If you're good enough to push the All Blacks within a single point on their home turf in a World Cup Final, then you fully deserve to win the Six Nations as a consolation prize..

eh, idk, the Welsh will have some motive for revenge when they play the French

Yep, It's more through luck than skill they were even in the final in the first place. Though with Wales' injuries and Shane Williams retired, I can't see the Welsh playing as well as they did down under, and Ireland will be looking for payback tomorrow.

Love to see Italy and Scotland pick up wins today, but it's more hope than expectation

Which France will turn up today? Will it be the one that took the All Blacks right to the line or will it be the one that lost in Rome last year.

I have a feeling this one will be a real hard fight btween the packs and the backs won't see much of the ball for a lot of the match.

The Welsh will yet again look really good flinging the ball around sideways but will lack any penetraton and the pack will be on the back foot all the time.

What a soft try for Italy to concede after all that possession and territory...

Manseur, that's a great finish, but go say thank you to the pack for giving you the opportunity.

For most of that game Italy had fought France to a standstill then from nowhere France scror two tries. Either France will kick on and put a good score or Italy will fight back and take it to the wire. I think the class of France will tell and will get a couple of late trys

Italy remind me of Scotland. A lot of go forward and structure, good marauding back row, solid scrummage ... and rarely any end product. And then a tendency to give up soft points after a lot of hard graft.

I have no idea what to expect from the new-look England, especially after the Saxons got obliterated by Scotland A. This could end with either side winning by 15 and I wouldn't be surprised.

Question from a rugby idiot. Why has Scotland booted it down the field their last two possessions with no obvious attempt to recover it?

I'm not a rugby idiot, and I have no more idea than you. Just bad tactical kicking.

Compelling as a contest, pretty terrible as a spectacle.

If you kick the ball right your players will be close enough to pressure the catcher and either force a turnover or the oposition to kick. The current big idea is to force your oponantes to play in their own 20 metre area to put pressure on them and force them to kick the ball away for safty reasons.

Now Scotlands kicking at the start has been poor and hasn't put England under pressure.

And Scotland's 40 minutes of graft undone by 30 seconds of bad decision making ... again.

This team feels like the England of old, not playing very well, have little of the ball, full of errors but are some how in the lead.

They're missing tackles all over the place - Denton, Gray and Strockosch are making holes - but Scotland's skill levels and lack of accuracy are letting them off the hook

e.g. that three-on-one that Rennie just butchered in the most brutal manner imaginable.

The talk before the game was did this inexperianced England side have the composure in the pressure cooker of Murryfield. From what i've seen its Scotland that has no composure.

If England play this badly against Ireland, Wales or god forbid France we will get smashed of the pitch. I'm not one to panic over one game so give Lancaster a chance over the six nations and see how England play at the end.

If I were an England fan, I'd be happy to take the win and move on. This team will get better, if the RFU has the patience to let it.

If I were a Scotland fan, I'd despair. Losing when they've dominated everywhere but the scoreboard is far too frequent to be an aberration.

And as a Wales fan, I know a thing or too about despair.

Good game this. Wales struggling at the line-out, and it may prove their undoing.

I'm aware that its only me here, but ... Woooooo!

/ Yes, Davies should've been sent off
// Wooooo!

So France, England and Wales all win.

After the first round France look indifferent then score at will, Italy are trying to change the way they play and challenge Scotland as the 2nd worse.

England look like they can win ugly but can Lancaster start to get te team looking like they can play. Scotland huffed and puffed but didn't look any good and Italy must be looking to beat them.

Wales squeeked past Ireland and will need to improve or keep the luck they got to do any more. Ireland looked a bit out of sorts and need to rebuild as the golden generation is getting old.

Plus how stupid was Davies. They lost at the world cup because of a spear tackle then he goes and does one off the ball. He should be cited for that as he was lucky not to badly injure the Irish player.

2012-02-05 03:47:09 PM
There's no doubt Davies will be cited and get a ban that will keep him out of the rest of the tournament, and rightly so.

Ryan may also be cited, as Davies was retaliating for a cheap shot on Adam Jones. Priestland will like goal kicking duties to Halfpenny.

North was awesome. Feel a bit sorry for Cuthbert, but defensively he was exposed. Everyone else played pretty well, though Gill gave away too many penalties/free-kicks at scrum time.

Dave Pearson will get bollocked for bottling the red card.

Ireland/Wales was the first rugby match I'd ever watched. A friend dragged me to the Local for breakfast and the match. I think I could get hooked on this pretty easily.
