No, screeching harpy from human resources, I'm not going to support your kid's slave labor.

When Girl Scout cookie season starts up in your neighborhood, those earnest young saleswomen transgendered boys bearing boxes of sweets may be armed with a new secret weapon agenda: a mobile credit-card reader attached to their smartphones . . .

For sex or cookies?

I just tell them to hook. Mo' money.

Came here to say one box per serving.

I've always found "no, thank you" to work really well. Do kids really chase you people down with cookies?

Subby is evil. I now have an image of an adult in GS togs with pigtails, boots, and crop saying bad boys don't buy enough cookies. I am scarred for life. Or going to hell. I can't decide which.

/probably both

Yea, not letting someone set up outside the grocery skim my credit card.

"In other future-of-Girl-Scouting news, the Girl Scouts introduced a new and improved cookie-finder app in December that allows the user to find the closest place to buy Girl Scout cookies within a 30-mile radius."

I just tell them I've got a restraining order against being in contact with people of the opposite gender under the age of 89, that usually works.

FTA: "Now every time someone says, 'Oh, I don't have cash' or 'I don't have a check,' we've got you!"

Anyone else read this in a creepy, evil voice?

Great...now I'll need to figure out what I'm going to do with the 70 boxes of Thin Mints I'm inevitably going to buy. And that's before trying to explain it to the wife.

GS cookies are available in most grocery stores year round. They are the same cookies, different names.
Thin Mints are Keebler Grasshoppers, Samoas are Keebler Coconut Dreams, etc.

2012-02-04 11:03:47 AM
Are they made from real Girl Scouts?

no can't say they have chased me down but that look, man they are trained to give you the we won't be able to go to scout camp half sad face and its over from there. 20 boxes of Thin Mints later and they are happy and i am happy. Also try telling your neighbor kids no.

None of my friends are in the age range to have kids that could be girl scouts. And no person in their right mind would ever try to solicit anything to grad students.

I dont think so, the keebler cookies do not suck ass, the girl scout cookies on the other hand are very nasty.

I usually just tell them I already bought some.

The cookies are now up to $4 a box where I am (Southern California). But its great to see the girl scouts themselves do all the work of selling here. I've seen too many times where the scouts are sitting at a table looking bored while their parents sell you cookies.

I've resisted so far, but might buy a box or two because of that.

I have never had girlscouts knock on my door, but I was ambushed by boyscouts in public once. Small grocery store, they were parked right by the only exit. It was a cute 9 year old, a possibly mentally retarded 12 or 13 year old, and an adult in a wheelchair.

Bastards. Popcorn they sold me was ok, but not worth $15

This. Boy Scout popcorn is way over priced. And the troop really doesn't get to keep much of the money. Donate instead.

My favorites are the Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties. What would be a grocery store equivalent? I have only casually looked in the past but haven't been able to find anything.

Great. Now we can make payments and pay 18% interest on Thin Mints.
