Apos: Any decent Broderick movies since Election?

The musical version of "The Producers" is good.

Only because of the lack of Cameron. Alan Ruck could've been sought out. OtherwiseFerris was the same mannerisms and speech tone as before. So quick.

Not a movie, but he good in 30 Rock as Cooter.

I wanted to hate this commercial, since it's kind of the opposite of what Bueller was all about. But god help me, I couldn't help but smile and chuckle. Especially with the stuffed bear dancing in the front seat.

In the pre-title opening scene of the Ferris Bueller TV series (which attempted -- and failed -- to capture the Parker Lewis Can't Lose audience), the kid playing Ferris tore a poster image of Matthew Broderick in half, while saying, "c'mon! Matthew Broderick playing me..?! That's ridiculous."

The show was deservedly short-lived for many reasons, but that was still probably about the worst possible thing that could've been done in the first episode's opening scene; any good faith fans might've brought from the movie was immediately gone.

Commercial is excellent! Anyone know what the story is on the license plate?

had he went out and picked up Alan Ruck and Mia Sara it would have been a great commercial.

Litterbox: Commercial is excellent! Anyone know what the story is on the license plate?

It comes from Ferris' description of the Ferrari: "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up."

Oh -- and that pre-title scene from the TV show..? It's actually worse than I'd remembered.

The thought of Ferris being a shill for some car company originally pissed me off, but after seeing the commercial, I don't see a problem at all.

The fact Matthew Broderick is playing himself is the biggest reason it works for me. It just keeps it from being blasphemous, and comes off more as an homage. As said above though, having Alan Ruck and Mia Sara would have been perfect!

Is there a man that made worse movies than John Hughes ?

Even Ed Wood was better.

Wow that was bad. Ferris Bueller is kind of a douche but he is the kind of douche you want to be or hang out with, but the TV Show Ferris Bueller seems like the kind that should be named Ferris M. Bueller,

Wow. Typical case of Hollywood forgetting everything that made the original so good. At least it has some hot, young Jennifer Aniston in it.

Oh my. Well, that terrible opening sequence did remind me of one thing: my huge crush on Ami Dolenz:

Ami Dolenz had a wonderful rack. I remember watching that unbearably horrible movie with Tony Danza with her coming out of the ocean in a skin tight bathing suit. Good Lord, those are the scenes that turn children into men.

Does anyone else think that maybe they shouldn't use a character played by an actor who struck and killed someone while speeding in a car while he was on a break from filming the movie the featured that character?

They should get Sir Mix-A-Lot to do a Honda ad next.

The accident was a year after the movie opened, but I see your point.

Clearly pandering to the 30-something crowd.

The photo in the link looks doctored to make him look even older than he really is.

*fact-check's self on IMDB*

Fark. Matthew Broderick is FIFTY FARKING YEARS OLD

A part of me just died.

No, the ad IS funny precisely because he killed two women in his car in real life. Anybody know if it was a Honda? Probably a BMW or something.

Ferris Bueller was always a stupid character, so the update is just right. It allows people to see how boring they were that they could be duped into thinking a dull, uninteresting character was somehow dynamic.

It's odd that Ferris can come back, seeing that he was dead, and In the movie, Ferris was all in Cameron's imagination, as a way of coping with Cameron's grief of his dead friend.

Oh, sure. You can't handle the fact that John Hughes sucks, so to protect yourself from mental breakdown, you just claim that anybody who disagrees with you is a troll.

Um, hello? Ferris and Sloane are IMAGINARY. Dealing with severe childhood traumas like molestation is the most common cause of multiple personality/disassociative disorder.

Cameron invented Ferris and Sloane because they are strong in ways that he is not. While Cameron deals with his problems by going catatonic, Ferris turns the situations to his favor with deft social engineering and quick thinking. And Sloane is a girl, who Cameron believes is safe from Principal Touchy.

And at the end? When Cameron tells Ferris that he's not all that great? That's Cameron starting to amalgamate his personae back into the fold. He's taking ownership of his problems.

Just having Mia Sara would be perfect enough for me.

The commercial wasn't bad, but all that just to pitch a bland SUV? Why not something kinda cool, like the upcoming (okay, 2015) NSX or something unique, like the Clarity?
