Jay Leno probably has half the cars on that list in his collection (as well as the first Honda Acura NSX that Jerry Senfield also wanted)

We could have such beautiful cars. But no car company is inclined to design them. And Detroit wonders why their city is a wasteland.

Although some of you are so wet behind the years...you think a 1993 Honda Civic....with a 1.5L engine that sounds like a lawnmower...is retro. Put a blade under that and go mow some lawns

After that parade of dazzling vehicles, how can they call a '53 Pontiac wagon "opulent"?

And from careful reading of the description, the Corvette at the end does not have matching numbers, which will make any Corvette snob reflexively yell DO NOT WANT.

I agree with the comments about the DS. Lovely car. Pity there weren't more Citroens in the slideshow.
Most beautiful? I've always like the Lamborghini Espada.
Then there's the sports Bentley. Not beautiful as such, more handsome.
Hell, I like all old cars, even the super ugly, like the Dymaxion.

whats a fecal vega? Is it like a dirty sanchez?

i went to this yesterday. The photo gallery missed some key cars that were present, courtesy of the Mullin Automotive Museum:

1938 Hispano Suiza H6C Xenia

Link (new window)

1934 Voisin Aerodyne

Link (new window)

1939 Delahaye 165

Link (new window)

besides this exhibit, there were several stands showcasing pre-WW2 Bugattis

auto brands were also present showcasing their heritage. the Citroen, BMW, and Skoda stands were great. Renault's stand was full of fail (just Renault 5s and a couple of Alpines). Peugeot had a bunch of models, but with a heavy emphasis on the 1970s. Mercedes had an SSK and one of the first SL's but their stand was an afterthought. Honda and Porsche were wastes of time.

Most of the time people like me choose to keep quiet, because we know that people like you with such strong opinions aren't open to anyone else's opinions, but I'm feeling chatty.

Old cars, and by that I mean 30's - 60's, weren't overall as "beautiful" as you make them out to be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but very round, very bulbous, "wavy" cars don't do it for me.

I can respect the design styles and the artistic endeavor that cars used to be but I think that so many of them are flat out ugly. That Jaguar that you posted is far from what I'd call attractive. So yeah, I'll take today's crop of Aston Martins and Bentleys over yesteryear's.

And before (or rather just just in case) you say it, no I'm not some sort of young punk who thinks that his Civic is a badass racecar and should shut the fark up while the real adults talk because I don't know a damn thing. On that point, if the reason that you like them so much is because you grew up with them then nostalgia clouds a "pure" opinion and should be considered when talking down to others.

/Again, preemptive "just in case"
//Opinions are like butts.
///For the record, one of my favorite cars is a 60's design.

Yes, but not alone. I love those old station wagons for some reason. My dream car is the two-toned 53 2 dr Nomad. Perfect Americana.

I don't know if you remember the smash up derby SSP toys, but my favorite was always the wagon. I think it's a Nomad.

Maybe, I like it too. That one and the Panhard just had a lot of appeal.
