Habs are a goddamn disgrace this year.

2012-02-03 11:43:30 PM
Hey, at least Erik Cole has been good. Too bad he's also well on the wrong side of 30.

""We want this to be festive," Paquin said. "We're being satirical but we don't want to be disrespectful. We want fans to have fun and not to launch into personal attacks or be struck by collective despair.""

As a Habs fan.... lots of luck with that.

I thought this was about Fernando Torres.

His cap hit is 7.3 million, his salary is 8 million this season.

Even Drury managed better.

Ugh...THIS.

All I'm hoping for is an epic tank and a good draft pick.

I figured Tevez

I had Torres pegged.

That is sad.
But what's sadder is I'm sure if he suits up tomorrow/today, he'll score against the Caps.
I get to go to the Bruins/Caps game on Super Bowl Sunday, fresh off off of Carolina's sweep of them. They'll be angry, and the Caps will be lost yet again.

/i can has playoffs?

Not Arshavin?

It'd be forgivable if he were playmaking, collecting assists and/or otherwise helping in some fashion. But he's not doing much of anything out there. I was shocked and dismayed when the Habs traded for him - not because I like the Canadiens, but because I enjoy seeing Sather and the Rangers pay the price for their dumb free agent signings. I couldn't believe they were able to dump that contract. Even so, I didn't expect Gomez to be as bad as he has been. Mediocre, sure. Not worth half that contract, of course. But it seems that each year he's gotten worse and worse to the point that next year, assuming he's not been bought out or buried in the minors, he'll somehow get negative points.

9beers: His cap hit is 7.3 million, his salary is 8 million this season.

That was last season. It's $7.5 this year. A bargain!

Even if they get the pick, if Gauthier is still GM he'll trade it away for some poutine and a couple of those new-fangled carbon sticks. He's a complete buffoon.

And yes, I realize it was Gainey who actually made the Gomez move. I still think he must have been pissed off or drunk.

And to top everything off, there are huge rumours that Pierre Maguire is being considered as the new GM. I swear if that happens I'll never watch another Habs game.

/fan for over 33 years
//still miss Koivu

He was so dynamic with the Devils for years, sad to see him struggle like this

That would be....ugh. He's a creepy little gnome that really shouldn't be anywhere near hockey.

I'm sad for the Habs this year. Price could only prop them up for so long, and now even he's tired. It's been a really sad season to watch as a Habs fan.

Well, Desharnais has been quite the fill-in on my fantasy team while Mikko Koivu's been out. I'm most likely keeping him and dropping someone else when Koivu comes back. So, um, there's that.

I dunno. I think of him as the Dick Vitale of hockey. He's creepy and annoying, but he knows his stuff.

The B's have to get by the Penguins on Saturday first.

He was out-smarted by Glen Sather. Think about that for a second.

An even better website than the one listed in TFA is DidGomezScore?.

It reminds me of the time when Wade Belak held the goal drought ironman streak, and Sportsnet ran a funny parody about whether he could make it another season without scoring, and he was a good sport about it and even had a cameo in the expose. "Typical Toronto media, always looking at the negative side of things!"

But the thing is, Wade Belak wasn't expected to score goals, so he can make light of that situation and himself.

Gomez has no excuse.

I can't believe that the Habs took Tomas Kaberle's salary off of our hands. I'm not complaining, though.

Damn, thats better than Lee Evans' $1.2 million per catch this season for the Ravens.

I am a waiter in Montreal and I have served Scott Gomez several times. He has always been a good tipper and, more importantly, a pretty nice guy. He even interrupted a meeting he was having at the restaurant in his first season to chat with a young kid whose family I know for a few minutes.
I feel bad for the guy and i hope he scores, but I couldn't really care less. I think modern pro sports in North America are just plain boring.
Go Scotty!

thank you for Ryan McDonagh!!!

(and Prust and Gaborik via later moves from that trade)

Sather is a trading genius. Sucks donkey meat at most UFAs though.

nice story.... he was never a favorite player of mine, because we never re dup on how people are in real life.
pro sports athletes have lost their desire to play recently.

I wouldn't want to be paid $7.3 million/goal because I'd probably still end up with $0.

I'll take the season's worth of pay.

Sorry Habs, Gomez and your goalie came from my hometown's WHL team :(

I'd like to think I'd be a nice guy and a good tipper if I was making the money he was and have only to provide output like that. Hell, I'd invite you to join me at the table and pay for your meal!
