Wasn't X-Files referenced on Fringe, too? Pretty sure I remember that from season 1, possibly 2.

It wasn't good but I wouldn't say it was Palin retarded. Does it help to know that it wasn't the season ender but an end to the entire story? Entire new story next season.

That was actually an amazing episode. It certainly isn't an "adventure of the week" type of show that you.can just randomly watch. There are seasonal and series-wide arcs to follow, and extensive character development. You really have to watch from the beginning to fully appreciate the later episodes.

Gak. Actually of all the episodes of BB to watch, that wasn't the one.

Seriously, watch the first episode of the first season. You'll be hooked.

but...but...the fly episode.
for an hour.

The fly episode was rather polarizing.

huge BB fan, but im in the 'do not like' category when it came to that episode.
it just seemed too obvious and heavy handed with it's symbolism.

that being said... listen to everyone else, lisa e, Breaking Bad is the best show on television.

Have you never had to go on a mission against a fly?
Torn your bedroom apart at 2am because of a mosquito?
Waged day long clap fights against a gnat?

Seriously?

Who are you with such a laid back attitude and heaps of self-control?

You're scaring me now.

I find it funny that the chick who wrote this article failed to mention Bryan Cranston was in the Vince Gilligan directed episode: Drive. One of the best of the series, by far.

If you have watched most of the season arcs up to that point, it's a brilliant character study. If you haven't, it's an hour hunting a fly.

i'll give it a gander. :)
i honestly haven't faithfully/fanatically followed a non-animated TV show since the x-files. i guess it's time to lay off the 'toons for a while and get into BB. thanks for the recommendation!

I enjoyed The Fly waaay more on my second run through the series (when introducing my gf to it). The first time, I wanted a more action-oriented, tense episode. On the second viewing, once you know where the story is going and how the characters evolve over the season, you can enjoy the great bit of storytelling it is. Without trying to be too spoilerish or pretentious, the best part about The Fly is what Walt doesn't say. Without knowing the context, it's impossible to pick up on that.

Yeah, that was not a good way to start. Actually I skipped it too and just read the wiki summary for it, because I knew the episode would not appeal to me.

It's just an odd coincidence that the one show you saw was the one that's least like the rest of the series.Seriously, start from the beginning. All it took was two episodes and I was hooked.

Checking wiki, his first appearance was 1/31/1993, so 19 years at the moment. Counting appearances on Wiki, it looks like....404 at the moment across various shows (Jesus, 10 of them?). Frasier, as I understand it, was 20 years across three series (Cheers, Frasier and Wings) and a massive 468 episodes. So yep, he's close to breaking that.

You also have to count James Arness as Matt Dillon, Who had 635 episodes in 20 years.

I don't think Munch will break the most episodes record, but he stands a good chance at most consecutive years... especially since SVU is one of NBC's only shows that isn't a ratings bomb, and they're in the midst of replacing the leads with cheaper newbies.

Keep in mind, that this is coming from someone who, to this day, is still a pretty big X Files fan.

YOU ARE SO INCREDIBLY WRONG ON THIS. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW WRONG YOU ARE! Yes, I know it's your opinion, but it's, in this case, erroneous.

While The X Files does have some pretty gorram amazing episodes (I'd put Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose up against anything else ever filmed), the show is a rung under Homeland, IMO.

Saw first ep of BB and didn't want to bother with the rest. I think my expectations were too high based on all the hype. Homeland is good, but the last episode fell apart and was a disappointment.

\The truth is out there.

Same here.

I was expecting to be blown away. I wasn't.

I wound up watching the first season, but never went any further.

So you once watched the show once and you happened (randomly) seeing the one, almost stand-alone episode?

Not buying it.
