I'm not clicking, subby. No good can come from your link.

Why can't people just pull themselves up by the bootstraps, just like Newt did? No one helped him, but he worked hard until he achieved his dreams and more.

2012-02-03 04:14:01 PM
So Gingrich wants a 'trampoline' not a 'safety net'. Seems reasonable. What might that look like? Health care, since healthy people make better employees? Educated people, so that they have the skills to be employable? Minimal tax burden, so that there is incentive to be on a payroll and not the dole?

Gee, sounds exactly like Obama's State of the Union. Congratulations, Gingrich. You're now a deadbeat socialist.

Something where, no matter how much you try, you can only get so high and eventually end up falling to the ground?

Sounds like something he'd be for.

2012-02-03 04:20:06 PM
He's going to help poor people. This means (A) spreading the wealth around and (B) socialism.

They'd need to be in shape, too. Have you ever seen fat people on a trampoline?

"Trampoline" is a euphemism for "tax cuts for the wealthy."

How about three words: "Callista", "trampoline", "Gingrich"

How about no.

if we built a big enough trampoline, we could bounce all of the poor people to their very own moon base.

I don't know if Newt has noticed, but most trampolines sold these days also come with a safety net.

And that's odd considering his amazing ability to do flip-flops

Trampoline? is this new trickleup and then crash down economics?

We'd have 7.5 aftershocks for a year.

I take issue with your use of the word "waste."

I watched some of this on CNN, and couldn't believe. I heard this. The "safety net" at least catches, the trampoline would just give many people th opportunity to reach for the stars only to come crashing back down, or have the one person is smart enough to "take" the bounce out of people. So some may gt out of poverty while others sink even lower. Smart one NewtMan.

//what a blow of doucheiness that is.

Yes but he is a Republican so when he has the same ideas as Obama or the left it's much more strappy and self-booty.

But I find Republicans really don't want to give people a "hand up" either. And I doubt Newt "If you are poor you should have a goal of becoming a janitor instead of going to college" Gingrich wants that either.

"Callista" and "membrane" also give me uncomfortableness for some reason.

This is the problem with Newt's ideas. There's nothing behind them.

I'm imagining the Bizarro-world version of The Man Show starring Bizarro Adam Corolla and Bizarro Justin Bieber, ending each episode with ``Gingrichs On Trampolines!''

It is a happy place. Well, a slap-happy place, at least.

"What the poor need is a trampoline so they can spring up," he said. "So I want to replace a safety net with a trampoline."

Well, that's certainly a coherent policy position.

GOP fight to see who can pretend they care about the poor the most, right after the Congress fight to see who is more moral? Hilarious. This is like little kids the week before Christmas acting like angels to get presents from Santa Claus.

This makes me laugh because whenever my Republican sister talks about poor people exploiting welfare and other benefits she always brings up the people in El Paso that live in bad neighborhoods but have trampolines, as if trampolines are the Bentley of outdoor recreational devices.
