*lights oil lamp, grabs parchment and fountain pen*

It was with great trepidation that opened the Commentary section on FARK.com. Being a man of reason and science, I had hoped that the bulwarks of logic and higher learning would shield my psyche from whatever might await.

I was wrong.

All light of civilized thought was overthrown in an onslaught of horrors unimaginable. Irrational Jpegs flitted in and out of vision, encircled with in-jokes and memes that remained stubbornly unfathomable to my perceptions. The intention of comments could not be trusted as grinning and leering faces laughed and japed at those caught in their subtle deceptions.

I managed to hit the 'Back' button, but I fear that I was too late to preserve my faculties of thought. When the lamp goes out, they will come.

I can hear them now.....

You have to figure an elder God has a distinct advantage over what appears to basically be a "just" a demon.

I've got a dollar that says the russains screwed up and dumped the 40 tons of drill lubricant they they were using in the bore hole into the lake.

2012-02-03 10:44:37 AM
TFA is forced to blog about this because men of science have refused to follow its advice without knowing why. It is altogether against the Fark posting rules that I tell my reasons for opposing this contemplated invasion of the antarctic - with its vast fossil hunt and its wholesale boring and melting of the ancient ice caps. And I am the more reluctant because my own blog sucks.

Doubt of the real facts, as TFA must reveal them, is inevitable; yet, if they suppressed what will seem extravagant and incredible, there would be nothing left. The hitherto withheld photographs, both ordinary and aerial, will count in their favor, for they are damnably vivid and nearly NSFW. Still, they will be doubted because of the great lengths to which clever Photoshopping can be carried.

In the Balrog's defense it did manage to kill an elder god of Middle Earth, not one of the major gods, but still a god.

But, a Balrog was then overthrown by a minor deity (Gandalf).
