Other sites will let you bet on who the President will pick to win the game and if Tom Brady's wife supermodel Gisele Bundchen will be shown during the broadcast.

Things like the second one seem like something that would be way too easy for one person to control..... I mean, the Super Bowl producer at Fox can basically call whether they go to a shot of her or not.... or some shlep at the controls and one of the cameramen could work together and put down big money on the "Yes" side and then just "accidentally" go to a shot of her during the game.

Anyone who listens to Bill Simmons' podcast has probably heard this, but every year he and Cousin Sal from Jimmy Kimmel's show read off a series of Super Bowl props. Sal always picks a lock of the year that usually fails. His most spectacular being the Steelers-Cardinals year, where he made an emphatic case that "Steelers (3rd-string) RB Gary Russell will not score a TD" was the lock of the century. Of course Russell scored the 1st TD of the game.

In any case, his lock bet this year is "Giants FB Henry Hynoski over 4.5 yards combined rushing and receiving." As a Giants fan, I know that the Hynosaurus is often good for at least one 7-ish-yard pass in the flat per game. If I were gambling I'd take it.

The cross-sport ones are also fun. Stuff like "Giants points vs. Henrik Lundqvist saves."

And risk getting fired from a high-paying dream job? How about no.

There's no way anyone would do this. How much could you actually make, considering you'd have to place a ton of small bets (extra large bets get scrutiny).

And if you got caught you'd be blacklisted and never be able to work in sports, in any capacity again.

Well, the producer (or associate producer) certainly could get away with it. But just a regular cameraman swinging the camera off Tedy Brushchi's dumbass punchable face to show Gisele would definitely garner some attention.

My friends and I always make a ~20 question excel spreadsheet with prop bets and fantasy players and party specific prop bets like: in what quarter will we float the first keg? how many pounds of wings will we consume during the game?

Makes boring games fun, and gives the non-football fans things to root for. We call it the MasterBetter and it's updated live during the game with a leaderboard projected onto the wall. If I ever get motivated I'll make it web-based and make a fark-friendly version and give away total farks and whatnot.

I wish sports betting was legal in all casinos. I wouldn't mind doing some gambling on football games (including silly prop bets), but I have no idea where I would go to do such a thing. It's not like any local bookies have signs in front of their buildings.

It would be great if the cameramen bet yes and the producers bet no. They keep trying to pan to her and they cut to another camera as soon as possible.

I just heard about a Super Bowl pool someone has that's $300 a box. It pays out every time there's a score. Did the Giants kick a field goal? The guy who has the Giants 3 / Pats 0 box gets $1000. The Pats responded with a TD? The guy who has Giants 3 / Pats 6 gets $1000. And then if they make the PAT, the guy with Giants 3 / Pats 7 gets $1000. Then at the end, whoever matches the final score gets what's left of the original $30,000.

downstairs: a high-paying dream job?

Maybe I am wrong, but, I don't think guys working the TV production booth are all that "high paying". I guess if you are saying they blow their chance to move up in the ranks to being producers, but, I don't know that the camera guys are pulling in 6 figures, but, maybe I'm wrong as I said.

And besides, you don't actually make the bet yourself, you tell an "acquaintance" what to bet on, and split it with them.

I just realized my example was the producer, so, yeah, I doubt the producer would do that. My point was more the guys at the actual controls and camera guy, and you could just "accidentally" go to that shot, even if the producer didn't call for it.

Again, it just seems like a bet that is like a "why would you take that bet" type of thing? There are too many people directly involved that don't make enough money to make it tempting to rig it, as opposed to how long it will take some multi-million dollar artist to sign the anthem, who isn't going to care about trying to rig a wager like that.

cool. whoever runs that deserves to be tipped out big time by the winners. thats a lot of work and responsibility to make it happen, but its worth it in awesomeness.

I'm thinking the cameramen who are filming the most watched TV show in the world, are the most top-notch cameramen out there. And probably do pull in low-6 figures.

I remember last year someone here was making a few prop bets ahead of the superbowl, one of which was:

"Number of times commentators mention Brett Favre (full name) during game broadcast: over/under 1"

which he described as "if you don't bet the over on this, you hate money" [paraphrasing].

As it turns out, they deliberately avoided talking about him during the Packers' first SB win in ~15 years...

I thought it was a great line, so I was sad to see it not work out so well. I hope he didn't lose too much, as I don't want to be ripping open and an wound...

I currently have about $30k total in bets on different props, all $500 to $1,000 each but it's what I do for a living. I have friends with 5 times as much as I do.

If I had the Gisele prop available I would absolutely bet the YES. She will be on the broadcast at some point. No doubt about it.

I'll bet you a month of TF it's odd.

But we have to choose the closing date/time. Does it count until the thread is closed to new comments? Or by midnight in a certain time zone? Or when the broadcast coverage stops? Because I'm not going to be at my computer during the game.

If you find a bet on whether the final score will be odd or even, odd is a good bet at -120 or less.

Odd is more likely for two reasons:

1) the game can't end in a tie (which would be an even total)
2) a 3 point or 7 point win would mean an odd numbered total and those are the 2 most common winning margins.
