This will ensure Romney's election.
It's a no win scenario for Obama.
gas prices will soar and cripple the struggling to recover economy.
and of course he will get the blame.

France will send a "Charles de Gaulle" nuclear aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf, Interfax reported citing Israeli media.

Anyone else see the irony in multiple countries sending their nuclear-powered weapons to defend a country that illegally has nuclear weapons from a country that is trying to legally use nuclear power?

Pribar: thats what 20% of the worlds operational carriers in one place? I could be wrong on that but I think my math holds

If you include the amphibious assault ships its no where close to 20%.

Plus one of them is the De Gaulle, whose size is actually quite comparable to a US Amphib Assault Ship.

The Charles De Gaulle isn't what we'd consider an aircraft carrier. It's more like what we'd consider an amphibious assault ship (we have 10 of those to go with our 11 actual aircraft carriers). All told, there are about 30 total aircraft carriers.

excellent rebuttal of my predictions.

They have to move before the election while Obama will be over a political barrel.

From the desk of former president Theodore Roosevelt...

"Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready. "
Theodore Roosevelt, Speech, San Francisco, May 13, 1903

"Wars are, of course, as a rule to be avoided; but they are far better than certain kinds of peace."
Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Hart Benton, Chapter 12, 1897

Plus I didn't pull out the old "Speak softly and carry a big stick" becaue that would be like beating a dead horse.

The absence of hostilty is not peace...peace through strength, resolve, and shared purpose should be the mainstay of every nation of the world. Basically, be a good neighbor, don't crap on your neighbor's yard, and just live you live's leaving everyone else alone....but when the neighbor does get uppity, it does pay to have a fleet of nuclear propelled, razor tipped, hammer chunking aircraft carriers to park on their front steps.

/ok, move it along, nothing else to see here.

Unless we invade, we probably won't be able to breach the bunkers holding their nuclear labs. Before you even bring them up, bunker buster bombs are fiction. Even the nuclear ones don't work very well.

Other than needlessly pissing off a bunch more Muslims with more unilateral attacks on middle eastern countries, what is it we hope to gain from an attack, exactly?

Other way around. Beating the shiat out of Iran would be the best thing for Obama's reelection chances, not that he needs any more help with that.

Are we going to go down this "War is inevitable" thing again, where no reasonable opinion on why we shouldn't start bombing will be drowned out by 24 hour a day corporate media extalling the technological brilliance of our military and how everyone is in imminent danger of the current threat and we really have no choice and support ARE TROOPS!!!!
